I always try to include people in a group. If they feel uncomfortable and don't like the group, I try to find out why at first and then do whatever I can to help the person feel comfortable. In the past, I've gone off alone with a friend when she felt uncomfortable in a group.

I'd make them feel as comfortable as possible and make them laugh and I'd chat to them! I've been in that situation myself and can understand what other people are going through and feeling when they feel awkward and uncomfortable in a group!

Ask them a couple of questions about themselves, not in front of the whole group, it's better just in a one on one conversation to help relax them.

Find them some where to normal again and see if they can appreciate the difference, then see if they can rejoin the group.

Start a conversation.I would try to confront this member and help him/her.I would ask him/her why he is feeling this way and if he'd care to share it with me.if he/she says he/she feels lonely, try to include this member and introduce him/her to all the others and include him/her in your activities too.

It will make him/her feel really comfortable. They'll feel less insecure.

Ask them a question and act interested in their answer. It helps shy people, who can be the nicest people if you get to know them.
