I started smoking when I was like 13 or 14. I did it cause it was the cool thing to do among kids. I finally quit in 1994 and since bout 2000 I have been smoking cigars. There is a taste left from the ciagrs but I don't find it bad or anything.

I am an ex-smoker. I don't think any one 'decides' to be a smoker. During my first smoking experience, I was wondering how so many are smoking it when it stinks and is not all that tasy. I started smoking just for the fun of it and slowly got into the habit of smoking. Though I had decided to 'stop smoking from today' several times, it did not happen for atleast 100 times. Finally with great effort I gave-up about 10 years of my smoking habit

I had my first cigarette at the age of 16. I didn't care too much for it at first...it made me choke. Then all of a sudden...I kept doing it. It wasn't because the other kids were doing it, it's because I chose to do it ...and because I was so stressed. I've been smoking for about 12 years now and I don't see any sign of quitting soon because I'm more stressed with life than ever before...plus, I just like smoking.

Speaking for older smokers, In the 60s (or before) Basically when smoking first came about, It was 'fashionable' to smoke, all the celebs smoked etc so regardless of the taste and becasue no-one knew the risks linked to smoking, people just wanted to smoke because it was the 'in' thing to do.

I felt light headed, my first was a menthol when I was 14. I'm now 17 and a regular smoker since last year. Menthol tastes good, it's cold on your throat :)

My first ciggy was a sharing one with my sis, she told me she smokes so i sed i wont squeel if u let me try it, I was only 11. I rememeber when i first had a ciggy i neva inhaled it properly like everyone, I neva really thought about the taste but when u think about the tast smoking is nasty, but it calms me down so much. If i didnt smoke id probably kill myself, Im not good with stress but stress seems to like me. N no i didnt feel high lol

I smoked for 12 years, and I quit. My first cig was actuly when I was drunk. It was a GPC red. I began to smoke more fequently when drinking. It tasted like **** and smoke. After a little bit I started smoking Newports they tasted much better.
