If you buy a domain name, then how would you set your computer as a server rather then getting a hosting plan. Is this easy? and how much it will cost me monthly?

Depends what you have allready. Do you have a fast internet connection? Do you have a static ip or a dynamic ip. Do you have a rooter ? There are many things you need to know. I personally reccomend a cheap Hosting plan at the beginning. You can learn more and more then. I talk here from experience bcuz i was once in the same situation. Even if you make your own server with less experience you have a high risk to get hacked. To make a Server out of your Computer i reccomend Lampp ( Linux ) or Xampp ( Windows ) - Its an installer that installs apache2, mysql , phpmyadmin and all the stuff you need.Good for making web sites at a localhost. You can also use it as a server for your domain but like i said its risky and i would learn about it first. Maybe this helps - http://www.apachefriends.org/ is the site where u get xammp for win. Its Free

Oh and for the domain try dyndns.org its a dynamic dns service its free also.
