I think its a joke, wouldnt mind so much if they work.
I were testing some Mcafee AntiSpam softwrae late last night, had to reboot 3 times just to install/update it, and then find it picks up virtually nothing when there are over a thousand spams in my test email boxes.
Try Panda Internet Security
www.pandasoftware.com
Funny name, funny icon, but works really well, been using this one on a number of companies and seems to be up to the task.

You need Full time (active) virus protection and full time spyware protection.
The combination below will protect you better and use less system resources. Best of all all the following programs are free.
---------------------------------------------
Full Time (Active) Virus Protection
Install only one. All are excellent.
AVG Antivirus 7.5 Free Edition

http://www.download.com/AVG-Anti-Virus-Free-Edition/3000-2239_4-10669237.html?tag=lst-0-1
or
Free antivirus - avast! 4 Home Edition

Full Time (Active) Spyware Protection

Install the following five programs and run weekly or at least monthly. You need all five. They will greatly increase your protection. They are not a substitute for full time spyware and virus protection.

My favorite is Trend Micro's Internet Security. It costs $50 and I find that it is less intrusive and uses less resources than other solutions.
