No... though I think he has done a good job in very trying circumstances. The greatest modern day would be Reagan.

Hmmm, in what context is this question being asked? If one understands the current goal of our government as being the leader that will take us into the "new world order" (as his father stated when he was president) then yes he is the best president this country ever had. If on the other hand you are asking this question based on our founding fathers dreams then no - he would be considered the worst president (yes, even worse then lincoln). Now why would I say such things? Lets lay out some facts and then you can choose for yourself based on your own criteria.

In history, one the worst and most notorious leaders was Hitler. The same controversy around Hitler now surrounds Bush. Hitler had his parliment building burned - Bush had his pentagon bombed...yeah yeah yeah, conspiracy theory at best - did you realy expect the person behind the attack to tell you he did it to himself? Hitler of course enacted a security act and we enacted the patriot act. Hitler created his special police and we created the dept of homeland security. Hitler invaded other countries because of it and we invaded other countries because of it. Hitler created a national ID card and we created the REAL ID act (which makes the national ID card a reality next year). Hitler created the concentration camps and we have our Gitmo. Hitler held trials, military trials, for his percieved enemies and we are holding military trials of our percieved enemies as well.

SO we match Hitler step by step thus far with Bush's action....what did Hitler do next that we havent done yet? I believe he suspended his election based on a dreamt up national emergency and bought the world to war. With the current situation in Iran, are there any takers who wanna bet we start a war with them, Bush suspends the election based on the emergency and we enter another world war?

Other in roads that Bush is making to move us toward the world government and sell our soveriengty down the drain.
1. NAFTA
2. CAFTA
3. The current plans to build a superhighway between Canada and Mexico.
4. The laying of the ground work for the Amero to replace the dollar.

Can anyone say Oceania - was Orwel so far behind when he wrote his book?

Now that you have some background, what do you think? Is he the best president ever?

I do believe that history will show Bush as the first to embrace the fact that America faces threats all over the world which must be confronted in an offensive manner. However, he is not the best president ever.

I firmly believe that Reagan is the best ever for his vision of a strong, yet compassionate America. He was the true pioneer of the conservative movement.

"Trust, but verify."

There will never be another like him.

he's better than all the rest combined x 10,he's done so much to help out china and mexico and when it comes to our borders he has done a spectacular job.Not only is he awesome but he'a got excellent verbal communication skills, it's like he is a walking dictionary and thesaurus all rolled up in a thin layer of b.s. Wouldn't it be flippin sweet if he can be president for ever!

I guess it all depends on your qualifications for "best." If following the unitary executive theory to claim all sorts of new presidential powers makes one a good president, then Bush is aces. If sending the sons and daughters of other people to fight and die in the Middle East while your own daughters go off partying in Argentina is a desirable characteristic for a president, then Bush is one desirable mofo. If cutting social programs while pushing for economic policies that have actually led to the rich getting richer while the number of Americans living beneath the poverty line increases is good, Bush is good. If kidnap and torture are fine, then Bush is fine.

So if you think all that is what would make Bush the best president ever, then he is the best.

Otherwise, no.

That question depends on your social status and how you were born

If you were born with a silver spoon stuck in your as..s = Yes, Bush is the Best President for your Corporation in China or Exxon.

If you were born poor and wanted to get a good education to move forward = too bad! college tuition is too high and you might have to push your beat-up 1985 Ford Escort to school and work ( Gas too high)

he has done a good and commendable job during a very tough time in our history.

i think your answer is at this point unanswerable, though.

reagan was a beloved president who did great things for the spirit of our nation and aided in the final fall of communism - but it's collapse was undeniable at any rate.

nixon, though not well liked, opened up communications between ourselves and those behind that iron curtain - a feat that was considered unachievable by many at the time.

bush, we will have to wait on. his term isn't over and the emotional turmoil of the last several years has yet to settle. i know no one will ever be able to say he has made no mistakes. i always know this has been a time like no other and mistakes have been inevitable.

As an Australian I shouldn't comment on your President but I feel I can because he talked our pathetic Prime Minister into getting involved in your insane war in Iraq. I (we) have admired many of your Presidents,. Even some who have had little personal failings. But the fellow you have now is not one of them.
