OK I logged into my ebay account today and notice I have a $870 balance. Well I haven't sold anything in 3 months so I contacted them and was told:

Essentially, what happened, is you were not credited correctly. Some Trust and Safety tools, when crediting Good Till Cancelled Listings, have been crediting far too much, they credit for ALL fees, and EVERY Final Value Fee every charged for a listing. When Good Till Cancelled Listings are cancelled, only the current duration is credited as previous durations are in the past, these are completed durations, and these are fees that are owed to us, but we've been crediting ALL fees. Essentially we've had to backtrack and correct this error. These are valid fees for an overcredit and this is actual money owed

OK I am being charged for an error made by ebay and they want ME to pay for it. Do I have any legal options avalible for me? I can't pay out this $870 in the 14 days they want me too. They are threatning to close out my store/account

Some of these auctions they are charging me for are over 2 years old... I can't see how they can do this since at the biginning of the month I had a $300 credit on my account and now I owe over $500... Is anyone else getting charged for this? Can they legally charge you for an error they made over 2 years ago? I mean if they did it over time or in payments it might not be so bad but this was $870 at one time in the middle of the month....

As for it being charged to the buyer these I think are final value fees or something... They keep saying they are legit fees and that I have to pay them.

OK I talked to them again and they are telling me that the 2 times my account has been suspended for disputes with my credit card they canceled my current auctions and appearently instead of just crediting me for the auctions the canceled they credited me for every auction I have ever listed or something. This is going back over 2 years. So now they are saying I was over credited and I owe all this back money. I'm not trying to get out of paying what I owe but I find it kinda fishy that it took them 2 years to realize this and now they charge me in the middle of the month when I haven't had any real auctions on ebay for over 3 months. anyone have any phone numbers for the billing office of ebay they keep wanting me to email them and it takes forever to get a reply. I would be fine if they would work out a payment plan or something I just can't pay almost $900 at one time. I mean $100 a month would be fine but they appearently don't do payments....

It is ebay's fault conranger1 in as much as they made the mistake of over crediting my account (still not 100% sure about this but that's what they are claiming). The auctions are over 2 years old and to double check all that is basically impossible since there are 50-60 pages of invoice for each month. I just don't have the time to go through everything. Looks like I will have to eat this bill. I just don't like the fact they wait 2 years then bill me. And bill me in the middle of the month leaving me very few time to get any cash to put towards it. They need some sort of payment plan but everyone I talk to about it says tough luck either pay the bill on time or have my account suspended again... More BS from ebay with them wanting us to pay for a mistake they made.

At the start of your post you state its ebays fault, a mistake, then way down at the bottom of your additonal postings you are whinning about wanting to pay by an instalment plan!!.

DO YOU or DO YOU not owe them money??

Ebay cannot be held responsible if you dont know how it works, or if you have made the mistakes.

And you dont say with which particular Ebay (where-ever)you dealing with.

If its over 2 years old I beleive you can successfully dispute it in a court of law!

Innocent until proven guilty means eBay have to prove all of this - so ask them for a VERY DETAILED document with the fees on which shows for example all the auctions they every credited you for, which were removed, and which auctions you didnt pay listing fees for!
I think there is a new law in the UK that gives a time limit on companies rectifying such!

it sounds to me as if they are admitting that you have been overcharged or wrongfully charged and are back tracking . best to get ahold of ebay and try to( i know its a pain) get someone to look into your problem and explain in detail whats going on. you may have to call numerous times and keep bugging and complaining to get action. ive had similar problems with a different company and got results after many phone calls. you have to be very persistant.

remember that when you get involved with e-bay you sign a contract and as always there is legal or 'fine print' . so research your account , and what you've listed and all that, be sure that you are right, they have really good atourneys that will stomp you if your not.

on the other hand , if you are right they will do everything they can to make it better. they are a huge orginization that wants your buisness and wants you to be happy.

there are a lot of crooks out there and they have to be careful. so i'd say to try to be patient go through the proper channels , make many tedious phone calls and rectify the situation.

they're not trying to get something for nothing they are only protecting their intrests, i know it sucks but they are dealing with millions of people , do your best and be persistant.

provide it time upto a week is an accpetable time to watch for fee in case you have considered no point out of fee after a week of public sale end deliver a message you will re-record the article purely be awear that the customer could have put in a complicated bid days in the previous public sale end and gained what you have been promoting and inbetween time of bid and acution end could are transforming into ill with flu or something comparable and for this reason no longer been nicely sufficient to get to the laptop to pay for the article you have offered purely be paitent if after purely over a week you haven't any longer heard from the customer re-record the article or open up a fee no longer won record

I'm not sure if you do have any legal options, but if it is eBays fault then you should be able to pay it whenever you want.eBay is normally a good website and hardlly ever makes mistakes but this is ridiculous.
Hope you sort it out.
