To observe something, you must get information from it. Most people get information by observing things through the use of light photons. To observe your environment in all its 3D wonder, you need to get those special blue-lens/red-lens glasses.

its a serious answer:
take a white cube. place it diagonally in front of your eyes. place a coloured light near the cube and let the light fall to cube.
