Yasmin has actually been around for 4 years. There is a second generation version of it that they call Yaz. I took this medication for 6 months during part of 2006 and I had a hard time adjusting to it during the first week of use and then by the 6 month mark I had a different problem. That problem which was bleeding was being caused by the way I took the Yasmin to treat one of my other medical problems.

This bleeding that you have going on could be related to an infection such as a cervical infection. I had a huge problem with cervical infections for 2 years. I had the problem in 2003-2005 and then finally my dr helped me get rid of the skin on my cervix that was getting irritated and so far so good.

Because this dr that you saw didn't want to do anything else for whatever their reason I would recommend getting a second opinion preferably from a dr that does not share the same office as that of the dr that you just saw.

Another possibility for your bleeding but only a dr can confirm or deny this is endometriosis. One of the classic symptoms of endometriosis can be heavy bleeding as well as it being irregular. To learn more about endometriosis please check out: http://www.endocenter.org

A third possibility for the bleeding is that of a hormone imbalance such as with the thyroid.

Something that I've learned over the past number of years with health issues especially in the gynecologic aspect is that no one is too young or too old for anything. So yes, definitely please find another dr.

Pls feel free to e-mail or IM me any time if you want to talk some more about this or just talk in general.

That doesn't make sense -"they don't want to do anything else because of me being so young."- You are not that young!!!! There are lots of things that they can do. Tons of things!!! Over the years I can think of milions of things my girlfriends and I have been through for the same symptoms.
No ONE!!!!! NOT ONE has had a hysterectomy because of excessive bleeding. That would be the only reason I can think of that such a comment regarding your age would be brought up. So I really wouldn't worry about that. If they were that concerned they would have ordered other tests right away. Sonogram, etc. etc. Something doesn't sound right here. Perhaps there was miscommunication. Even small cysts can bring on heavy periods. Could be hormonal. Yes, the pill is ofen used to regulate periods, and usually the bleeding will be less too. But I have to be honest with you, based on your post, your communication skills are not very strong. It would appear that English is your second language? Can you work hard to find a Gynocologist (you didn't even mention if that was the kind of Dr. you saw, I hope you did!) that is more familiar with your native language? I bet it would make a world of difference for you. I mean no offense, I am just thinking what could make it a better experience for you.
Best of luck. Keep taking those pills!!They just might be the trick! And take them at the same time every day. And don't skip one - that will surely start you to bleed again.
Again 21 is not so young for you to take responsibility for your own health. Find a Dr. (GYNO) you can talk to comfortably! Tell him/her exactly what you said here!

I'm not sure exactly but try this site it might help it has some different things that may cause abnormal amounts of bleeding. Don't freak about most of them though since some of them are pretty bad, the best thing to do is get another optinian, and these days your never to young or old for anything, so just click on the link below and then click on the names of the problems and some info will pop up about each condition.. hope you feel better

My sister has this problem. She has been bleeding for months. They are doing a hysterectomy next week. You are really to young for that. I would go back and try another type of birth control if that one isn't working. You are definitely too young for a hyst.
