The swimsuits have very tiny holes which let the sun in and have a SPF of 6-8. I looked at them online by looking at "Tan Thru Swimsuits".

I got one and they do let you tan but unless you have the exact same SPF on the rest of your body you still lines. They are cool though. Can't say whether or not I would recommend it, I haven't worn it in years but I do remember that I was disappointed by the lines, thought they were not nearly as bad as normal suits would give. Mine was Cooltan brand.

I've got a pair of swim trunks and have tried them. They seem to work, as far as I call tell, but we haven't had a lot of sun here in Scotland to be really sure. They're as safe as anything can be when you're getting a tan.
