Suppose -- hypothetically -- that Francisco Elson and James Jones looked like they were about to get into a fight, and at that moment Tim Duncan walked on the court and took a few steps toward the players. Further, suppose that Bruce Bowen -- always a model of sportsmanship -- also came on to the court to pull Duncan back to the bench.
Under the rules, David Stern would have no choice but to suspend both of them, too, right? Oh, wait a minute....

Alice: Actually, my question was not so much hypothetical as sarcastic. It WAS the other way around, too. According to the rulebook, which David Stern claims he had to enforce without room for interpretation, Stoudemire, Diaw, Duncan and Bowen ALL should have been suspended. Of course, why Bowen was allowed to take part in Game 4 in the first place remains a mystery.

Tut: All of what you say is true but it doesn't explain why Duncan and Bowen weren't suspended for doing the EXACT SAME THING.

Tut's Edit: Yeah, Duncan does have a clean image. But really so does Stoudemire, aside from his well-founded complaints about Bowen. And next to Diaw, Mother Teresa looks like Hannibal Lecter.
