Ever since I got a new Hard Disk, my computer has noticeable slowdowns and freezes, and basically is unstable. I have no idea about the speed of my drive, but the old one had 35 gigs, and the new one had 75. There is a three year gap between the two HDs.

I dunno... I'm not really sure as I just gave it to a computer technician. I switched because of a boot failure (couldn't boot to hard disk).

Did you install a fresh copy of the operating system on the new HD or did you Ghost? There's a lot of factors that can contribute to a hard drive being slow even if it is new. The drivers could have been installed wrong, you could have gotten a virus. I would check if everything is installed right and run a virus scan. If the software side is cancelled out you can start testing the hardware by running a system scan. If all else fails then it is probably a faulty Harddrive.

need to know how you setup ur harddrive, it is not just a case of slipping it in and it works just the same as the old one.

and yes it will be a lot faster than the old one

stick the old one back in and see if it speeds up, if so the hard drive is faulty!
