I found a junk 56 corvette, body is in tact but needs work, no engine or trans, no interior, glass is good. Basically the car is a rolling chasis that needs total restoration. The guy is asking $35,000. It seems kinda steep, what are these worth? This is not a fulie or anything special, just a reg 56 vette

That's WAY Over priced for an incomplete Vette. If it was completely restored looking beautiful it would be worth that much. But in that state, he'll never get rid of it. Sound to me like he really does not want to sell it. rolling chassis normally will sell for around 3000 to 7000 depending on the condition of the steel and how complete the interior is. Tell him to Blow it out his rear.

I work for Dan's Classic Auto Parts in portland oregon, I think you are right, It sounds a little steep for a project car. Hard to make a call on this without knowing what it is, and what is still there. Finding the correct Engine/Trans will be hard to do. If you were to hot rod it usually loses a lot of it's value. I have seen these cars go for as much as $150,000.00 but they were perfect.

You can get a basic 2007 Corvette for around that much (probably more with options). I wouldn't go for it but its up to you. Its a lot of work, $ and headache. Good Luck with your decision.

If you really like specific car, but don't wanna pay the price tag.
It probaly be easier to make a replica one for less, especially since you're gonna have to put that one together anyways.
