Ron Paul is the only Republican with the ability to think and speak for himself. The rest are too busy pandering for votes.

It's good to see most people on here support what he said as being an obvious observation. I have no idea what Ron Paul's views are on other issues but I applaud him for being someone who finally said something. And I was pretty shocked to see he was a Republican from Texas.
Now I don't want to say anything anywhere near along the lines of the victims of September 11th brought this on themselves and deserved it, not at all, they were all innocent Americans, but to say that America hasn't done anything to bring such hatred upon ourselves is ridiculous.
To use an analogy: A bully beats the same weak kid up every day, the kid finally stands up for himself and the bully can't understand why and acts like he never did anything wrong.
I'm no English major, so that may not be the best analogy, but it's all I got.
We can't sit here and say the rest of the world hates us for no reason, or that the rest of the world hates us cause we're just better than them. That's the most arrogant thing I've ever heard. The rest of the world hates us cause of the stupid mindset we have that we're the best and we can do and get away with whatever we want, and so far it appears we can, but hopefully as more American start to realize what's going on we'll be able to change this.
Side note: I wanted to applaud that MudMarine guy before me for his thought provoking response to this question. Nice work pal!

Because many people don't think for them selves anymore in this country, they only believe what they see in the media and don't truly explore the issues and beliefs of the candidates.
Here is the truth as I see it America,
1) The Jihadists and the orginizations that were apart of the people that flew the planes are mainly at fault, they were the ones that took action in flying the planes.
2) What Dr. Paul is saying is it was OUR "American" actions in the middle east "before current Iraq" and our interference in their lands that made us a target.
We have been interfering in affairs that are none of our business! THAT is where we are responsible. The people flying the planes took the actions and are to blame...but we were the ones sticking out heads up and virtually saying "come and hit us" with our foreign policy.

I hope that people will start looking at paul more seriously.
Think about it....with the issue of Iraq, I think Paul can more easily reach an agreement with both sides of the aisle on some kind of resolution.
He is about fighting for your rights, while the others, like the above poster mentioned, are pandering for votes. Paul speaks his mind and that is obvious....isn't that what we should want?
Ron Paul is an amazing guy. I might not agree with him on everything, but he is by far my favorite candidate of the 18.

Ron Paul just made a intelligence observation, which was not what the Repugnant Party wanted. The Republican tendency is to try to cure just one symptom of a problem and exhaust all resources on that.
The Problem: Terrorism
The Republican Solution: The Iraq invasion and occupation.
The Result: More terrorist recruits and more terrorism.
The Great Lie: "they hate us for our freedom".
The Democratic Solution: Withdrawal from Iraq, inclusion of Muslim nations in our fight, regrouping of our troops, focusing on Al Qaeda safe havens, killing Bin Ladin, alternate energy.
The Reaction from Republicans: well you see that everyday.

Roy has it right!
The anti-American resentment in that part of the world or any part of the world is something we should seriously study.
The "why" of aggression gives us insights into the "root cause" of that resentment and aggression.
Once we find out what that "root cause" of this aggression is, we become more empowered to prevent it.
CHALMERS JOHNSON has just finished the third book in his trilogy about the byproducts of projecting our power around the world.
People are always in the habit of "reconstructing" or "reconfiguring" what they have just heard into something that can be readily refuted !
This prevents them from having to "reconstruct" or "reconfigure" their erroneous assumptions or precepts.
When this horrible blunder we've made in Iraq begins to settle in, we will be forced to undertake the same painful reassessment we had to make toward the end of our involvement in Vietnam.
But in the meantime, prepare for a lot of people talking past one another and refusing to hear that which has just been said by those with a different point of view.

Giulliani and Ron Paul are both liberals.Anyone who would even consider voting for either of them needs their head examined. While you are all having your abortions and your gay marriages and you aren't allowed to own a gun and you are doing your "study" to find out why people don't like us,you are going to get us all killed. You are truly selfish imbeciles.
For starters why don't we do the obvious and close our borders.Even Bush is too much of a liberal pansy to do that.
This country is in big trouble.
