I am so sorry for your loss. Its not what you say that provides comfort its the fact that you are there for him and willing to share his pain in any way he wants to demonstrate it that will provide comfort. It really is impossible for you to say anything that will make him feel better, that will come from within him with lots of loving support.

I agree with the other posts. Just let him know that you are there for him. I have twin boys and can't imagine losing one. And there is really nothing you can say that will take away the pain. But your support will mean the world to him. He knows you love him. Make sure to let him know that you will be there in the days, weeks, months, and YEARS to come when a lot of people have moved on and he may need you the MOST.

this is a really tough question.it sucks big time that one baby has died.for you it is just as devastating so don't feel bad.your brother will be outa his mind with grief at the moment and all you can do is be there for them and offer a hand to,cook, clean, babysit, shopping anything really.your brother and his wife will remember that you offered all of these things when there grief eases a bit.you cannot say you know what they are going through unless you have,so please don't say that to them.you don't have to say anything except that you love them.i hope this helps you in a bad situation.good luck.cheers chen xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Theres nothing you can say.
My brother lost his son at the age 10 and nothing said ever eased the pain, just let him know he has someone there if he needs. He knows how you feel.

Having a newborn die is heartbreaking. Please do not turn away from your brother and the baby's mother. You do not have to say anything, just be there for them. Take over something to eat, if they have older children, babysit, if they need shopping, etc done, do it for them.

I would not say anything since words can have different meanings. I would be there for him and make sure he know that.

It's not for you to fix my Dear, just be there for your brother as best as you can. Just be there and when he needs you, he'll say so.....and most importantly....breathe!
