no but the ability to vote more then one time makes it an unfair system . as well the computer system used to take the votes is not up to the task.
it should be one vote one phone one computer.

No, but it's just as well. Y'see, with American, the American people vote who wins. The same America that gave Carrie Underwood the win about two seasons ago. Honestly, if America had it their way, it would be Blake and Sanjaya, totally undermining that it's a SINGING contest!

That's why I don't watch American Idol. And because it takes valuable time away from House MD.

I don't think that the general public understands that the contestants are a lot more professional than initially thought. For example, many contestants have been in bands, cut demos, been in groups, or have performed professionally in one form or another. The mistake is made when certian hopefuls are chosen to go to Hollywood for the wrong reasons: Kelly Clarkson/Carrie Underwood/Clay Aiken wannabe or someone chosen solely for their look and style. Then, the voters make the mistake of voting for contestants for reasons that have nothing to do with vocal skills. Hopefully , some changes will be made in the future. Like, no more showing people who can't sing...it's stupid.

No, that would never be able to stay a secret without the media finding out. Time to move on. Every year its the same complaint when someones idea of whose best, doesn't make it. It gets old.

Silly question. American Idol contestants are selected based upon the number of votes they receive from the American public.

American Public? Why they're the people from Yahoo Answers who take time off from their busy schedule of asking questions like, "Am I pregnant?", "Does he/she like me?" and the ever-popular, "How do I loose weight?" in order to vote for American Idol.
