How long will it take to heal? I pulled a muscle in back working in garden and I dont even know how.?

It happned on monday now its thurs and Im still haveing hard time just getting up from a chair the pain is horrible. Im using ben gay but today Im switching to heat pad . Ive been resting but still have chores like driving to pick up kids at school. How long will it take to get back to normal.

I would advise you to go see your doctor. It's hard to tell how long it will take to get back to normal because several conditions can be causing your back pain.... it can be muscles, spinal injury, or both. You can take 600 mgs. of Motrin 4 times per day (around the clock whether you feel better or worse) until you see your doctor. This will reduce pain and help repair irritated nerves. I hope that you're better soon.

OK you use ICE for the first 72 hours NOT heat. Then you alternate 10 minutes of ice and 15 of heat every other hour when possible. Heating pad is nice especially if you have the kind with the moisture pad.

Ben Gay smells. Try aspercreme when you go to bed. And during the day there are those icey Hot and other patches, big ones, that really help (cause I use them).

Good idea to stop chores, especially what is known as one-sided activities like vacuuming. Don't lift laundry or groceries, get someone to help.

If you still have pain after two weeks, it would be best to see your family doctor. As we age things do get ouched easily and sometimes that ouch is serious.

Sweetie, it all depends on the seriousness of the injury and also the time you give it to heal. Because you can reinjure it again and again if you do not give it sufficient time to heal properly. But from experience I had a similar situation and it took five days to heal, but two weeks later it hurt again for like three days.
