Thanks guys for the responses. It let me know that there are true Spurs fans out there, and if not fans, people who know how to lay down their respect. Ok, so we got away with one game in round 2, but tell me Suns fans, how do u account for the other 3? Did u really think you could beat a championship team two games in a row in crunch time? Sure, there were a lot of calls refs made that the Suns can complain about, but there were just as many for us Spurs fans to complain about. Better luck next year Nash.. hahaha

I agree with you. The only time we get any attention is when drama is going on like it is now, or when we win championship. We will win it this year. GO SPURS GO!
And why do Suns fans allays call Duncan a cry baby when they are a LOT worse?

Those die hard fans who follow the NBA know all about the Spurs accomplishments over the years. What would you rather have, recognition from the masses, or knowing you won 3 titles? San Antonio doesn't play as "entertaining" a brand of basketball in the eyes of many people, as some teams, and they are, relatively speaking, a smaller market team, in comparision to the Lakers, Chicago, Detroit, New York, etc...It would be the same way if a Portland, or a Utah, or an Indiana, or a less heralded team, strung together a string of titles. They would get some attention (which the Spurs have), but never as much as bigger markets, with more high profile, flamboyant super stars. That's just the reality, and probably won't change, even if the Spurs go all the way again this season. If your a Spurs fan, take satisfaction in knowing you have a terrific franchise, and don't worry if everyone else, including a number of the fans across the country, and national commentators, don't seem to give you your due. Just enjoy your teams play, and don't stress it.

Well, here in Argentina everyone roots for the Spurs! Ok, we're a bit prejudiced because of Ginobili and Oberto but still it's a great team and all this fuss about them being "dirty"is just a lot of junk to me.

I think the reason they don't get the recognition they deserve is because the city of San Antonio is smaller and less glamourous than big cities like Los Angeles, Miami, Chicago or New York. But everyone who knows about basketball considers the Spurs as one of the top contenders every year. It has helped them to be underdogs in the past so maybe it's better for them to keep on having that status.

Spurs don't get the recognition because they are an absolute bore to watch. Of course, the Spurs are undoubtedly a good team, but it's like that saying "if a tree falls in the woods..."

In the Spurs case, it's "if no one outside of San Antonio is watching, do the Spurs really win a championship?" I'd literally rather watch paint dry than fall asleep through an entire Spurs game.

The Spurs are boring! Period!!!!

Duncan cries too much and now you have Bowen and Horry as the Dirty tag team.

The only recognition that the Spurs will get is "The Parker and Eva Longoria wedding" LOL

No, the Spurs will probably never get the recognition they deserve because too many people who watch basketball are dilettantes who prefer the flash-and-trash game that so many teams play now. But that's okay. Real basketball fans will always appreciate the solid game the Spurs play.

The Spurs don't deserve recognition because of one man: Bruce Bowen. The dirtiest and most two-faced NBA player to ever step foot on the hard wood. He makes me want to throw a brick at the TV when I think of the injuries he has caused. What a lame excuse for an NBA player, and what a sorry example of a defensive player of the year - uhhh, I'm feeling like I might need to vomit just thinking about that.

Because they're plenty good enough to win an NBA championship without playing dirty, but they INSIST on playing dirty because they have no character, no decency, and no respect for the other players on the court. That is why.
Their win tonight couldn't possibly have a bigger asterisk on it, and if they win it all, there will be a HUGE asterisk on it.

The Spurs are never considered underdogs. They are almost always favored and they get plenty of recognition.
