Can you make a pull pinata out of a cardboard box?

I like making mine out of the boxes printer or copier paper comes in. The lid is just the right size. I use oval metal rings like the kind that sometimes guide belts or backpack straps to hold the lid on the box but you can really use anything flat with holes to tie sting. Also you need strong string, yarn or ribbon (plastic or fabric) to make the strings the kids will pull.

What I do is cover the box and lid in wrapping paper that will match the party theme. Poke a hole in the bottom of the box and feed a hanger top through the hole. This will become the top of the pinata.

Tie a ribbon or two to each toggle/button to make the puller.

The lid of the box will become the bottom of the pinata. With the lid on the box, poke holes around the edge making sure to go through both the lid and the box so they line up. (You usually want at least 3 holes in each side of the box.) Insert a puller into each hole to test for fit and ease of pulling out.

You need to have the box open to put the candy in and then put the lid on and insert all the pullers prior to the party. At the party, hang the pinata in the center of a big circle of kids, hand each kid a string and pull at the same time. Instant fun and no one gets whacked.

And if you can find all the pullers afterwards you can just change the wrapping paper outside to decorate for the next party. I had one that lasted through 2 birthdays, Halloween and Christmas for 3 years.
