Because Boozer used to play for cleveland
he all but resigned with the cavs before backing out and signing with the jazz
he could have been great with LeBron as a solid 1-2 punch
cavs thought they had a power forward of the future before Boozer left.

I think Carlos Boozer made a smart decision.
Number 1, he got a MUCH bigger contract then he would have in Cleveland.
Number 2, he is THE man in Utah. The offense runs through him a great deal of the time. In Cleveland, he would have always been LeBron's "sidekick". In Utah, he made the all star team, and seems to be a good fit along side Deron Williams, in Jerry Sloan's system.
So he's on a succesful team, getting paid a bunch of money, and making a name for himself in this years playoffs.
Besides, this alleged conversation between Boozer and Cavs management, that occured behind closed doors, was in direct violation of league rules, and should have never occured in the first place. Basically, Cleveland knew they couldn't pay Boozer what he was worth, so they tried to get him to commit to some suckers deal. If what Boozer did was selling his soul, I would have done the same thing in his position. I mean he's got his family to think of, and he needed to look out for number one. In the NBA, you never know about injuries (and Boozers already had a few), so you take the big paycheck when you can get it.

Carlos Boozer once played for the Cavaliers as a Second-Round Draft Pick. After 2 years with the Cavs, he still has 1 year remaining in his contract but he opted out of the contract to play with more money for the Utah Jazz. If you wacthed this year's match-up between the Cavs and the Jazz in the Quicken Loans Arena, he was BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOEEEEEEEEDDDDDD everytime he touches the ball. HE IS ONLY PLAYING FOR THE MONEY!

He used to play for Cleveland and left that team for the big bucks.
Imagine had he stayed. Lebron and Boozer would make a scary 1-2 punch. So to see him bail on his original team for another team over money, the fans are very upset.

He had promised the Cavs GM that he would resign when he became a free agent, even if he was offered more money. Of course this agreement was solely verbal and was not supposed to occur at all(something about restrictions on when you can resign, trade, etc. players). Anyways, after making his promise, he ended up signing with Utah for a bigger salary. In the end though, I think he made a huge mistake; had he stayed in Cleveland, he would have made a formidable due with LeBron James.

It's all about about the benjamins for Boozer. Think about it, how can someone leave a team with the future/current superstar of the NBA to go to Utah, where there's nothing else to do but ski and go to a Jazz game.
