Another way of phrasing this question is, "What is the worst thing that your imagination has ever done to you?"

This happened to me when I was only five. We lived in a house that my mother swore was haunted. An elderly lady had died in the bathtub right before we bought the house.
I was in the basement at the bottom of the stairs. Yes they were old and creaky. Any way I was staring at this broom that was leaning up against the wall right in front of me and all of the sudden it lifts from the wall, almost falls to the floor and then lifts back up and rests against the wall in it's original position.
I broke the land speed record running up the steps.
The moral of the story is that all kids should be afraid of the basement.
We eventually moved and the ghost did not follow us however from time to time I will have dreams about the old house, and in the dreams I will talk to the lady who died there.
Any way if it was a "HAUNTING" I think she was only trying to say "Hi", not to scare the crap out of me.

I suppose the worst thing these can do is to take over our bodies and leave us to be blamed for things they have done. Many in prison have no recollection of their alleged crimes and believe they were possessed.Psychologists may just call this a type of dissociative disorder. I remember a few times being pushed out of my body and hopelessly watched while they used it for sex and creating an offspring or "special child". I have remembered them once saying something like: "And all of your children shall be mine and their children's, children." They have also said that they don't "need" our permission either. I remember praying to the Archangels when I was younger.Maybe I pronounced it wrong and ended up with the Dark angels instead.....

well, speaking of "the worst thing"... i have something to share with you...
it was when i was 13, 2 years ago.. something strange had happened to me.. i may not say that i saw a ghost but i saw a doppelganger.. (note: it differs in spelling)...and, here it goes..
i was on our dormitory's first room for girls when i walked out of the door.. walking straight from the door, you can see a big mirror on the left and the path is straight ahead to the second room for girls.. i went there.. all doors were opened and i left our room(the first one) with my classmates playing inside.. when i have entered the second room, i saw Grace, my friend.. i was looking for her that's why i went to the second room... when i almost got near where she stood, Grace suddenly disappeared and i don't know where she has gone.. no one was in the second room so i was frightened.. and because of my fright, i went back to the first room immediately.. it was then when the most scary time had happened..
i saw Grace on our room! she is wearing the same dress as the grace that i saw on the second room.. and i almost got fainted and my classmates asked me why.. then everything was clearly not an illusion.. instead, i saw the doppelganger of grace..
(take note: incidents where Grace has a doppelganger doesn't only happened to me.. it happened to others .. twice and thrice...)
i don't know why we always see grace's doppelganger.. i think because of her weakness, spiritually weaknesses..

The worst thing a ghost has ever done to me is try to pull me out of my bed(it used to be her bed). She would breathe real hard in my ear and i could feel her pacing back and forth across the room.

The most nerve racking experience I have had with one of the ghosts I have in my house was with a confederate soldier. My husband and I had found a wonderful first home a year after we married, and I learned from exploring the land and the surrounding area that the land around where my house sat on was once a resting spot for confederate troops. From the first night I moved in I could feel the presence of others around me. As with any new place, it was strange sleeping there and I stayed awake most of the night getting a feel for the house. As a few more nights past, I could feel someone standing at the foot of the bed. As I looked up I saw a figure of a man. I gently reached over to feel for my husband he was there beside me. I did not want to wake him up, because he did not like the fact that I could see ghosts. In the meantime it was getting very frustrating in our bedroom, my husband felt scared and did not want to be left alone in there by himself, he insisted on sleeping with a night light. After a month of this, I had asked a medium friend of mine to step into the room, and tell me what she felt. She had told me that my soldier was protecting me. For some reason he was there wanting to protect me, from my husband. This really scared my husband, and it lead him to not want to come home, since I worked nights he didn't want to have to be home by himself. I finally had to have my friend come back out to the house and we had to ask him to leave. It involved saying a prayer and asking the spirit to please leave me alone, and blessing each entry into the house including windows. My soldier never went away but he stopped standing at the foot of the bed he stayed outside in my backyard, and my husband left our home. But that is my story, not really anything that bad, but it tdid take a toll on my marriage.

Worst thing? Constantly poked, hugged or pushed me like he/she knew me, like a friend that ran into you somewhere.
Answer: Always answering, Hi how are you?
Result: He/she got sick of it and left me alone.
This only happened in my home and never in a public place. I live in a very old home. Who knows what those people are up to?

when i was 16, me, my brother and a friend (named justin) used to play my newly bought ouija board for the hell of it--my brother and i where new to it and sceptical, but justin was experienced with it and played with it a good bit. i wanted to see physical proof that we were actually talking to "spirits," to prove that nobody was moving the cursor (or whatever its called). i asked it to move an airfreshner in my bathroom, which i placed directly in the center on top of the toilet. we closed the door, which was in sight, and made sure nobody was going in my bathroom.
we gave it around 10 minutes to move the airfreshner. when we opened the door--i remember very vidly--the airfreshner was moved about 6 inches to the left--scaring the crap out of us..i couldn't sleep that night.
after that, i put my ouija board in a small closet in one of the rooms. about 6 or so months after i put it away, i was alone in that room looking out the window. suddenly i heard 3 distinct knocks coming from that closet door--needless to say i ran out of the room pretty scared.
i get chills to this day thinking of that thing.

burn sage at each corners of the house and say out loud "in the name of the father, son, and the holy spirit " demand the negative energy to leave you're home. i also would ask your guardian angel or guidance to help to get rid of it verbally. oh,
as you say the line make a cross sign with the sage. it worked for me. maybe more than one person is better also
