409 works good on removing crayon and many types of pen. A simple eraser will tale care of pencil marks.

Unfortunately, most rental properties use cheap paint that doesn't wash up easily. The Mr. Clean Erasers might work. I've also had good luck with Fantastik, 409, and Mr. Clean Orange Cleaner on walls. Avoid Goo Gone, it dissolves latex paint and will cause more damage.

Using warm water and soap is good, but try using baking soda on your sponge or cloth in the areas that are marked. If you're going to wash all the walls just add baking soda to your soapy water, but change your water often. The hotter the water, tho not to burn yourself, the better your results will be. Good luck!

There is a product on the market called "Goo Gone". There are 2 types I believe. One removes sticky residues such as glue left by price stickers etc., and may remove marks as well. But check the label because there is one that will say it removes crayon and markers from surfaces. I have found it at stores such as Home Depot, in their paint department or anywhere you would find solvents etc. Good luck, and I'm sure your kids aren't that bad. They're just normal !

I clean apartments for my landlord, and the best thing we have used to remove the things you mention is a spray bottle of something called "Simple Green".. The ink may come off pretty well if sprayed with hairspray. If you have smells to remove, try something called TSP which we purchase at the hardware store. If I were you, I would have those kids helping with cleaning!!! Give them hugs with the cleaning rags!!
Good luck!!!!!!!!!

MR. CLEAN ERASER! Just dampen it and VOILA! it will remove anything from walls - even Sharpie marker.
FYI: Don't mess with the imitation brands - only Target's brand is equal to Mr. Clean. Also, don't buy the one that has dual sides (white with blue on reverse). The blue side is worthless!
