I know it is impossible to disprove the existence of something, but I saw this guy on TV who said he could prove God's existence only using science. Too bad his analysis was so convoluted, it would have been nice to put it all to rest once and for all...

No, it is not.

I love topics like this, he asks a question and someone uses the old age (and utterly dire) argument of 'Look at how complex everything is, there must be a God'. What utter rubbish. This argument just opens the argument to every single religion. 'How did it come from a big bang?'. If you actually listen to science classes, you'll find that the big bang does (theoretically anyway) make perfect sense. And I think when Christians say that God made the big bang, that is a fair argument and allows the two ideas to co exist.

I also find it funny how when stuff is dispproved int he bible 'it was not meant to be literal, youre supposed to interpret it'. We believed God and heaven was in the clouds, we reach the height of the clouds, half the people say that hes in space, half the people say that its supposed to be interpreted differently. Russians get into space first saying something along the lines of 'There is no God up here'. Everyone then says thats its not supposed to be taken literally.

We can't prove if there is a God/god/gods, or if there isnt a God/god/gods.

Studying psychology helps understand why some peopel find it easier to believe in a God though, as does philosophy, a famous philosophy said that 'Religion is the opiate of the masses' which is believe to be true. I honestly believe that all religion came back from when the human race didnt have very developed brains, and science certainly hadn't been invented, and they used it to explain things.

Even the mighty ancient Greeks believed that the sun was pulled across the sky by the chariot of one of their gods.

Sorry most of this is completely off topic, its just a random rant. apologies.

In fact, you can only really disprove hypotheses (not prove them) by identifying a contradictory circumstance - so its all about how you set up the hypothesis. So in a scientific sense you would say that any number of observations that supported the existence of god (of which there are currently precisely none) would be contradicted by a single contrary observation.

This leads to some double think when applied to god - lots of people say "you can't disprove god's existence". But in the same way you can't disprove the existence of a small fluffy invisible red bunny called eric in low orbit around pluto - it does not mean he exists.

In fact, scientifically is is easier to build a body of evidence that god does not exist. The easiest way is to use the sort of statistical argument that many arguing for god use (eg its so unlikely that elephants would evolve from slime that there must be a god). Based on any of these it is trivial to prove that if the statistical assertion is true, then it is statistically even more unlikely that god offers an explanation.

But I think your baisc probelm here is really which god would you like to test the existence of. Hinduism has 330 million gods alone by some accounts. No cultural imperialism allowed.

Science and math are the two components strongly used in the creation by God, the evidence is everywhere, even to the tiniest micro - organism, due to its complex makeup. Take the eye and all the mechanics of its function, its ability to do what it does - can it be possible for this to be a random living entity that just came into being from a "big bang" and where did the big bang stuff come from? And where did the first cell come from? There is always a way to prove that there is a creator of everything that exists, the air we breathe, etc. but ultimately, as you believe you exist - and you write an email to someone you will never meet and explain yourself to them, and try to convince them you exist by giving them all the information about yourself - they ultimately have to decide if they do believe you exist - or not!
Science is a great way to study the reality of God's existence and the proof of His Creation!
Great Question!

Dear Sir, the answer is in faith an faith alone, thus the premise of the bible. I wish science could show us all the light and pathway, but unfortunately the bible clearly states that only those of faith will see God. I do not write as one who feels strong faith, but as one who is at turmoil on a daily basis. I would approach this from a historical and sociological standpoint. Did Christ exist, clearly the answer is yes. Was Christ executed, the historical answer is yes. Is there proof of Resurrection, the answer would be no. Is there proof Christ is the son of god, the answer would be no. Is there proof that God exists, again the answer would be no. I say no because there is no proof by mans determination. If you asked a true Buddhist, Hindu, Muslim, Jew or Christian if there is proof, they would undoubtedly say yes, as they believe this in their heart and rely upon an inner information and being. I don't know if this helps you, but it did sort a few things out for me. Good luck in your quest....God bless..

If you believe in God every validated scientific discovery proves God's existence. If you don't believe in God there is nothing in the universe save God's direct intervention in your personal life that can prove to you that God exists.

In the God's domain there is no science and in the domain of Science there is no God! Hence scientifically, it is impossible for the God to exist !

No. Science cannot apply to supernatural phenomena; it applies to natural phenomena only. But evidence can be adduced which persuasively shows that god does not exist; see:
