Liberals = it's MAN's fault and WE should stop it
Conservatives = there have been warming and cooling periods all through time and we cannot stop or change them

OKAY - we have different 'reasons' why...BUT

Should we all work together to come up with a plan?

The truth on Global warming

Seems some are behind times in information-not surprising so much is out there.
Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research says: "When we observe global weather—the extremes in precipitation, floods, droughts, storms—and note its development, we can rightly say that these extremes have "quadrupled over the last 50 years." That is right-we have accelerated in our time.

Many feel that the unusual weather patterns are evidence of global warming—the so-called greenhouse effect run amok. Explains the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency
Some say the sun
Many charge, however, that man has unwittingly tampered with this natural process. Says an article in Earth Observatory, an on-line publication of the U.S. National Aeronautics and Space Administration:

Skeptics point out that only a small percentage of greenhouse gas emissions are man-made. However, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), a research group that is sponsored by both the World Meteorological Organization and the United Nations Environment Programme, reports: "There is new and stronger evidence that most of the warming observed over the last 50 years is attributable to human activities."

Climatologist Pieter Tans of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration says: "If I had to put a figure on it, I would say that it is 60 percent our fault . . . The remaining 40 percent is due to natural causes
A poll done by Scientists NOAA--It seems that" 82% of our World's Scientists"--now agree with man is the biggest cause contributing to the accelerated changes. But of course Governments do not admit that (who made.them the experts- I wonder)
Most scientists now agree that the earth has indeed heated up. Just how dramatic has this temperature rise been? The 2007 IPCC report says: "Global surface temperatures have increased between 0.4 and 0.8°C since the late 19th century." Many researchers believe that this rise could account for the dramatic changes in our weather. (Researchers and Scientist seem to see it-why don't others?)

Since many view this problem as man-made, cannot man solve the problem? A number of communities have already enacted laws to limit pollution emissions from cars and factories. However, such efforts—commendable as they are—have had little or no impact. Pollution is a global problem, so the solution would have to be global! Antipollution measures are costly; often, poorer nations simply cannot afford them. Some experts thus fear that energy restrictions will send industries fleeing to poorer lands where they can operate more profitably. Even the best-intentioned leaders, therefore, find themselves caught in a bind. If they protect their nations' economic interests, the environment suffers. If they push for environmental protection, they endanger the economy.

Since neither governments nor individuals can solve the problems of the environment, who can?
In answer I would say prepare your children for it--they will need it!!!

You will not find many scientists who says it is an absolute certainty that we are causing global warming. They will say that there is a 90% chance that we are causing it. There is always a chance that it is just one of these cycles. But let me ask you this: If you were to place ALL your money on a team to win the superbowl, with there being a 90% chance one team would win, and a 10% chance the other team would win... which team would you invest every penny you own on? Sure, there is a chance that it is just a cycle. But do you want to risk the lives of everyone on the planet on a 10% chance? Or would you rather take precautions that would not only reduce the chance of us destroying the world we live in, but also decrease energy costs, reduce the amount of garbage in landfills and help make the air and water quality much much better?

The Liberal argument is not that the whole entire thing is humans fault but that the actions of human beings is contributing to the global warming thus speeding the process.

In reality the solutions for global warming are actually fundamental to the existence of United States as a superpower.

A thought for neocons:

The solutions are geared towards moving away from foreign dependence of fuel, which means nations hostile to the USA with oil as their main source of income would have limited to no income. This would include the middle-east, Russia, Venezuela etc.
As a byproduct of this you would get low costs in the long run, a better environment, less allergies, prolonged life of animals near extinction, and less natural disasters.

Yes we know that the neocons are against the terrorist since they shoat this at the top of their lungs but would you do something that would really impact them or just keep shouting?

Don't get SUCKED into the "politicking game" RLP!!! Their is NO differance between the liberal democrats & the suppossed conservative republicans of the democratic republican party. The politicians(magicians!) that form the democratic republican party core ARE BUT ONE ENTITY. ANY issue that these politicians(magicians!) get involved with come at the expense of INCREASED taxes thru cost, further eroding the value of our paper currency which is THEIR goal. This is just another attempt at SOCIOL ENGINEERING that goes hand in hand with the myriad of other anti/pro issues they have fostered to keep the American public at each others throats!!! Forget the POLITICAL issues being dangled in front of you/us & vote for FREEDOM by electing Libertarian representatives. Dump the DEPENDENCY Americans have become accustomed too thru the politicians(magicians!) of the democratic republican party. There's still time brfore our once great republic rolls over & heads to the bottom in total polorization & despair.

Ahhh the global warming debate....
the one true answer is that the world goes through various temp changes.
Volcanos erupt pushing ash and smoke into the atmosphere causing global cooling (nuclear winter)
And the weather has been really warm at times.... there are dino fossils in Northern Montana.... and fern fossils in the artic... both very warm weather creatures and fauna...
In addition to that, there are many civilizations under the water now.....

The issue that the temp-terrorist never want to discuss is that the world changes and from the fossil bones found man has managed to survive most all of them........in recent history, the 70's were supposed to bring an era of global cooling.... and now they scream global warming..... wait 20 years and it will probably be cool again....(see the 70's)

The best plan..... live a good life, do many wonderful things, meet many fun people and have no regrets.....!

You bet we should be preparing for this! Just as New Orleans should have been prepared for a hurricane of that magnitude! A measure of prevention....you know the rest!

As a lover of geology, I can tell you that it is NO laughing matter what one single, catastropic event can wreak! With the planet warming as it is, homes and land will be lost. But, I fear the unknowns which come from this!! You mentioned them above and those are facts!

I did watch some of the senate hearings with the scientist who study the global warming,( on CSPAN in March?) and by there own words the earths temperature has gone up 1.25 on the average since 1745, and they expect it to go up another one and a half degree within 50,000 years. I thnk we got plenty of time to get ready, and to be honest, I'm not to concerned about problems more than 200 years away, nevermind 50,000. yet they also admitted that the earth aveage temperature has only since the 1950s been actually check world wide, prior to that it was on ly in developed nations, and mostly a few hundred miles above and below the equator (USA,Europe,Japan etc). so the question is, is there really global warming? and also they stated that prior to the late 1920s the instruments varied in measurements because of different types of Mercury used, and no set standard for increments had yet been excepted in the field of temperature reading, so maybe there has been no change I really don't know, there answers where never conclusive nor where they very clear on how they determined all this?

I think it's about time OTHER countries around the world start pulling their weight regarding cleaning up the environment. After all, it is supposed to be a global issue. The USA is the cleanest it's been in 100 years. Are you hearing this, China?

I personally think that even if it is not 100% certainty that man is the main culprit...it would be wise to admit that there are things we could do to reduce the problem....and if man is only part of the problem, we ought to reduce emissions as well...it's not a political issue...it's real....I don't want my grandchildren to suffer for what is happening today.....everybody just needs to do what they can and push for conservation and alternative energy...but the biggest problem we have is to change our habits...and a lot of these changes would actually be healthy, like walking whenever you can instead of driving...the 2 sides don't need to agree completely on the cause as long as they try to do something about it.

In 1900, there were only about 4,000 cars in the U.S. In 1997, there were 600 million motor vehicles, worldwide. Burning One Gallon of Gasoline Generates 22 Pounds of Carbon Dioxide. Do the math and then tell me that man can't possibly have done anything to contribute to this global warming cycle. One hundred years is a very short time to introduce that kind of change to this planet.
