Crusinthru - you said
So if you put a lot of importance on popularity polls do you think the liberal congress we have now has made mistakes also if their numbers are even lower then the presidents? No one ever mentions things like that lol. The latest gallup poll said that congress was about 4 points lower then Bush. lol

Noone ever mentions it - you and other cons have been stating it non stop - not one of you has provided a link to any such poll.

dogsrspcl said that Clinton was "creamed too". Actually at the equivalent stage of his presidency he was at 58%. In his second term it was never lower than 57% and peaked at 79%. Dubya's second term has not seen him above 50. The 28% for Dubya does seem to be an anomaly - he has generally spent the last few months in the low to mid 30s.

Bush's approval rating is at about 33%, and Congress' at about 36%. Bush's is not really coming up, as some have suggested here. He's been at 32-35% for months. Congress' approval has been steadily downward since they arrived in Washington, probably because people were expecting them to take Bush on forcefully, and instead they're kissing his @ss and taking a lot of time about it. Why bother wasting six weeks of debate and voting on an Iraqi withdrawal scheme that you KNOW Bush is going to veto and you can't override? And why investigate minor things when you could just as easily investigate things like how much money Haliburton is running off with from the Iraq war and how much of it will be held in trust for Dick Cheney?

Wheel spinning of the worst sort.

His black approval rating after Hurricane Katrina might provide a hint: it got down to 2%. That was within the 5% margin of error, so theoretically, -3% of blacks could have liked him.

He is already in Nixon range, but Nixon was smart, competent, and actually did some good foreign and domestic like short circuiting part of the Cold War with the opening to China.

Bush has no comparable achievement beyond correctly using a megaphone at Ground Zero after 9/11.

President Truman's rating got down to 23% when he got us into the Korean War. He's dead, but that war is still going on. Maybe after 50 years in the Iraq War, Bush's rating will be even lower, or, like Truman's, much higher. The kid's fighting in Iraq will be 70 by then. Groan!

Actually, according to an AP poll from about a week ago, the President's approval rating is 35%. Coincidentally, that's also congress' approval rating. Congress, of course achieved that in four months. It took Bush a few years. And Bush is on an upward trend.

It can get lower..and sadly it probably will. president bush has an awful habit of pretending to listen to the public that he's supposed to be representing and then completely ignoring anything they say. did the majority of the US people want a troop surge in Iraq? no. but according to Bush he is the ultimate decision-maker. hmm, that reminds me of someone..oh right. hitler. last time i checked this is a democracy buddy. But back on track to answer your question...Bush has the lowest approval rating of any president in a generation. And as far as I can tell..he has the lowest approval rating of any president EVER. that will happen though, when youre so scared to lose the war in Iraq that you can't see that its already been lost. even republicans running for president are distancing themselves from him. They brought him up only once in their first republican depate. however, they mentioned ronald regan 19 times.

It's pretty high with me, and people I know, but I dn't get out much, and I refuse to watch the 24/7 media hype on everything. but whats in a poll anyways, his dad , George Sr. I remember had 90% approval for the gulf war, and couldn't get re-elected? they come and go, and they are terrible in accurate, the questions are baited n o matter how you answer, you get the answer they are looking for, they play on words, I don't answer polls, but I know that pollsters then just check you off as disapproving of an issue if you refuse to answer or hang up.

Last time I checked, it was lower than 28%.

But, yes. And when it gets to 0, maybe then he'll open his eyes and listen to the people he's supposed to be representing to the world.
