If I'm not doing something for another person out of purely altruistic inclinations, my motives become automatically suspect. Anything done with karmic "Brownie points" in mind is not a true act of selflessness. Genuine charity and humility are only practiced anonymously, and with nothing expected in return.

that's a complicated question. There is no harm in receiving benefits for helping others such as the good feeling that comes, or an unexpected tip. I think it's meant to work that way. It's those that only do the bare minimum expecting that they'll receive a great reward or a verbal explosion of gratitude that don't have the right mindset.

There is an inherent problem with placing 'others' as a blind primary; there are many ways of taking advantage of this principle. To be truly selfless you must not evaluate the recipient of your action in any way, which means your acts of generosity could end up benefiting the criminals, stupid, evil etc etc...

"I neither grant, nor do I accept, the undeserved (unearned) in matter or spirit."

Yes, as a rule it is what i shoot for. However we are all human and get caught up in our selves too much from time to time. We can not be perfect all the time. This does not make a person a hypocrite but only human. the tough part is to continue to do it when the reap is not what you sewed and you do not get it in return. I refuse to give up and will do my best to treat others with kindness.

I do try to do unto others as I would want them to do to me because I find if you are kind to people usually they will be kind back. Those who aren't I just feel sorry for. I do it because I was raised that way and have always tried to be respectful of others and their feelings. If we all did that, the world would be a much nicer place.

Pretty much. Sometimes I slip, but even when people are being jerks I still try to treat them with kindness and respect. Meaning I BITE MY TONGUE.

I do my best.
However when someone treats me like crap, I can quickly and efficiently strike back w/o remorse.
I'm only human.
