They said it was Bush's fault and that they would bring them down. Hillary said that she wouldn't let them make all that profit on our backs.

Bush is still there in case you hadn't' noticed and Hillary was talking about a windfall tax if she became president. If that's even possible, the soonest that would happen would be January 2009, unless she decided to introduce it in the senate now since it's such a good idea. However, if it passes, she can't run on it anymore, so dont' count on it anytime soon.

Gas Prices are not set by congress, they are set by Oil companies, which have very deep ties to Cheney and Bush. They're still in office. So the Justice department which is appointed by the executive (white house) is not investigating any price fixing charges against any oil companies, since it's in the interest of the White house to not investigate.

In short, it's the president and the justice department that could pursue suits, not congress. And Bush is still in charge there.

Easy fellow Yahoo Answer members, I think you all are being a bit too harsh on this person. Sure, she is obviously misinformed, but that is why we the good people of yahoo answers must pour some knowlegde on this young (i hope) mind.

Gas prices should be the least of your worries. Find out what they are paying in Europe, over there its cheaper to fill your car up with mocha lattes than it is gasoline.

We here in the US pay very little to operate a car. How many of us have ever drove around just for fun? How many of us own a SUV and have never or will never be involved in any form of off-road driving? How many people buy homes hours aways from their work so they can "save" money. Americans love their big and wasteful cars because we have never had a incentive to seek other less costly forms of transportation.

The sad truth is that our wastefull living of today comes at a much larger cost than what you are paying at the pump (global warming).

So I'm not going to complain if gas goes up, let it rise, maybe soon it will be high enough for us to justify living a more reasonable life.

Alice,
How old are you? Very young I hope. That would be the only excuse for your interpretation of what you hear on the news. Your perceptions and understanding are a little off. I do not remember hearing the Dems say that they would bring down oil prices, I did read Dem supporters on Yahoo making such claims though.

Gas prices are being blamed on econ 101, supply and demand, and the lack of refining capacity in the US. Yet the major oil producers are rolling in record profits, something like .70 each gallon when it used to be .20. I don;t know about Bush, but something is seriously wrong here.

It has nothing to do with politics. It has to do with supply and demand economics. Query "Peak Oil" for specifics.

Demand at a set price is rapidly increasing. Worldwide supply on the other hand is leveling off and is expected to fall.

You can expect higher and higher oil and gas prices in the next few years. It will never drop in price for any length of time.

Democratic Party supporter George Soros of MoveOn.Org, is a two-faced liar. Publically he denounces Halliburton while privately he invested $62 million to purchase 2 million shares of Halliburton stock.

Film maker Michael Moore is far behind Soros in Halliburton stock. Mikey only owns 2000 shares of Halliburton stock.

I LOVE this question....."They said"...who is "they"?....the mainstream press?...Rosie O'donnell?....Susan Sarandon?.....The democratic candidates?......Do most people who vote democratic actaully know what they are voting for, or do they just vote against the republicans? Those Republicans are soooo bad, obviously, I should vote for a Democrat! Is that the way to vote in America? Is thias what it has come to...vote for whoever is popular in the polls? It would be nice for people to get informed and find a politician to support that supports what they believe in.

If autos used fireplace-flies for gasoline, human beings would speculate on the value of fireplace-flies. fireplace-flies would be on the inventory substitute, and quicker or later there may be the equivalent of a fireplace-fly OPEC to administration the charges. Banks would help fireplace-fly futures, and leverage huge blocks of inventory for the summer time call for and to create the occasional shortage. Congress would appease the universal public by applying calling for extra suitable MPFF, and Detroit, or what's left of it would scream that fireplace-flies launch basically lots power, and that they are on the shrink. For fireplace-flies, you are able to substitute oil, nuclear, hydrogen, ethanol, electrical energy, methane, etc, etc, the sport on no account modifications.

Yes the Dem's did say that, but then again they'll say anything to get elected! This is one of the worst congresses ever!

Oil companies only get $.08 per gallon while the government gets $.50 per gallon through taxation!
