Yes, I have high standards but I don't have them set to high. Life is way to short to settle, always go for the best.

Yes and most of the time I don't meet my own standards. There for it is easier to live a life of celibacy because I am not good enough. The only problem is that with regard to women is I never ask them out anymore. People will ask me why am I still single and I don't tell them that I have only asked out a few during the past twenty years and none of them worked out. It isn't that I am ugly or a complete loser, I don't even try.

Well if one considers that I expect people to treat me with respect and human decency a high standard, then yes I suppose I do. I know I'm not the most rational and polite human being, but when I'm treated with respect I'm more likely to treat others with respect. People really do teach others how to treat them by the way they behave.

each person is limited in their own particular way, i set loose vague standards then modify them as someone were to "climb the ranks" my standards are extremely high for close and/or intimate friends.

Yes, I would do well to compromise on a few. Most of them though come from being discriminating.
