It doesn't make sense to me. If American Idol is supposed to select the best singer then why would the best singer be eliminated. First of all, Melinda was a professional back up singer and she was polished and had the voice to complete the whole picture. Melinda's elimination only lets me know positively that American Idol has become a joke. She truly was the best. It has now become a test of popularity and just how many times younger people can dial their phone. That is really sad. I think the program will lose it's validity after tonight. Jordon and Blake are good, wonderful, but there is no way they are as good as Melinda. When they allow those that perform professionally, it is unfair to the others that are new and don't have the experience behind them and it is unfair to the professionals. I just can't imagine that this has happened, I probably will not be watching it in the future.

She has a good voice. I wouldent call it the best. Jordin outshines in personality and vocal range...and looks. Like it or not Jordin is your new American Idol. Beatboxing will only get you so far. For 17 years old I think she is incredible. Melinda has the voice but she is not the total package.
If she went up against Carrie Underwood she would crumble with votes.

She was the best singer probably ever since American Idol began.
Her downfall was having younger competition. Jordin has the teeny boppers, Blake has the ladies and other teeny boppers.
Melinda was my choice to win it all. I have no doubt she'll go on and have great success.
It's just unfortunate that the majority of the American Idol audience votes for the flashier contestants.
Jordin and Blake will do great.
But Melinda is the Real McCoy.

Technically, it wasn't fair because she's talented. But America votes for their favourite, so I guess Melinda isn't favored by those voting for the next 'Idol'.

Jordin has the best voice out of all!! Melinda can only sing a certain genre of music, whereas Jordin can sing them all!! Woo hoo, Goo Jordin!!

sorry, america voted, and was overturned, the show is staged. hate to tell ya but come on, if taylor hicks could win last year it is rigged, how do you think that vegas is making such a killing on bets with american idol, they already said two hours before the show came on that she would be voted off.

I think it was fair; the fans voted for their choice.......didn't they? And she isn't losing that much. The record producers see her talent and personality and they will make offers to her. If she hadn't competed on AI, and got tons of exposure, she wouldn't have anything.

I liked her i do not think she had the best voice though gina had the best voice.
