I don't think it's most women that get upset. I've been to a lot of C/D parties as the escort of one and there were lots of spouses there and they even help their partner with their clothes and makeup.
There are C/D conventions where female partners attend, even go to their own workshops.
Some of these attract hundreds of people.
The only issue I have ever heard expressed negatively by women is when they go out with a cross dresser whose object of affection and arousal is the clothing and not the woman. Aren't very many women who take second place to their partner's clothes in that department and it usually ends a relationship.
Too many people do not understand and they lump your love of dressing female with an equally uniformed concept of orientation.
I know you are not alone and I know you are happy when you dress up and I only hope your experience with women and men you meet will be more positive as the world becomes less judgemental.

She annoyed that you look better in that little black number than she does;)
Seriously, it could be the shock of something that has been hidden for so long by a partner that she thought she knew. In any relationship (Gay or Hetero) there is a need for communication. Revealing such a personal thing might be seen as a sharing of trust. Communicating your needs / desires and a willingness to accept that she may also have her own, should strengthen a partnership (or at least you'll know where you stand ;).
She may have suspicions and worries, so tact is called for and possibly some partnership counselling from a GLBT group or similar organisation.

I personally don't get upset. I love going out to the club and seeing the CDs. I have told a few that I am jealous, they look really good as a woman. I feel that it can be a bit of a turn on. My ex-husband wore my clothes all the time, and when he decked all out in my clothes that is when we had the best sex. Of course I also left him and now have a gf. So I don't know how much that counts. But anyway, my point is not every woman gets upset about it. Continue doing it....who cares what others think anyway. As long as your happy that will reflect onto others, they will start to be happy for you, or they aren't worth your time.

I'd say unless it's Halloween you need to seek psychotherapy. But then again I'm not really sure what the motives are behind it if you're straight.
If you're gay you're probably just obsessed with how FABULOUS that dress looks with those heels!
