Their target audience disagrees with the target audience of the other networks. Their ratings seem to be fine and their advertisers appear to be satisfied.

Because they tow the line for the Administration even when the Administration has made obvious mistakes and errors in judgment.
And a true news source that was as balanced as they claim would absolutely CALL the Administration on there CRAP no matter what.
Time and time again I have tuned into FOX to hear them carry water for this Administration or Republican Politicians who have CLEARLY made errors in judgment just because they're Republican.
I'm talking about things like the Katrina response.
That kind of obvious negligence.
During the actual event FOX shot down there own reporters on camera , Shepard Smith & Rivera for being overly critical of the Administration for what they were witnessing on the ground in New Orleans.
And there are numerous examples of this towing the line for the Republican Agenda NO matter what. And it's the NO matter what that differentiates them and makes people dislike them so much.
There should be some things that supersede a Political Agenda.
At least in my reality there are.

I'm just going to respond to the "entertainment" guy.
When the Anna Nicole story was going on, bother MSNBC and CNN were reporting it...I turned to FOX and they were actually reporting on something about the economy. I was shocked too. But its the truth. All of those stations are entertainment because the media is a business and if they don't keep people entertained, people won't watch, they won't get sponsors, and then they won't have a station.

Fox news is hated because of, at best, a perceived bias against "liberals" and "democrats." Much of its news coverage is slanted in a way that is very transparent.

I can't stand Fox News because it's entertainment. It takes news stories and instead of giving an unbiased account of what happened, it puts a slant on it, laying blame on someone, and it just isn't reality.
Fox News is similar to British tabloids, or even American ones for that matter. All of these organizations exploit human emotions in order to gain more viewers/buyers.
I just want to hear facts, not opinions. I want to be more in tune with reality. There's always more to the story, but Fox doesn't care.

Its Liberals who Hate Fox news since Fox news asks questions the Libs WONT ASK.
See SC Debate hosted by Fox News.
80% of questions asked would NOT be asked by NBC, MSNBC, CNN etc alone.
They ask "fluff" questions.
NOT hard core questions on Issues.
Fox does & will.
Even Glenn Beck does.

Because it's a tool of the administration, not news. Everyone's entitled to their opinion, and I'm a strong proponent of the first amendment, but it's not news...they get their "talking points" straight from the administration...it's really the fact they call it "news" that I hate.

Because it fosters ignorance. That is not ad homeniem, that is proven by any researcher that wants to understand what Americans do and do not know.
In every case the most ignorant of all the people studied are those who primarily watch Fox news. Even those who watch Fox and CNN test as more ignorant than those who just watch CNN.
They even show that watching a Comedian like Stephen Colbert makes them less ignorant than watching Fox.
The reasons for this are very well documented, and the facts are widely available. But some folk prefer to have cult like ignorance that to try and understand the real world. Again this is not ad homeniem but the result of extensive research into what is called Right wing Authoritarian personality disorder (RWA)
In fact most of American Media is not a great deal better, but Fox tries harder to create as many RWAs as possible, to use them like toilet paper, that they and the Gang Of Pirates can maximize their power and profits, and keep their sheep hypnotized
Study the real techniques of propaganda and the rules of logic and see how many things you can catch. You will need a text version as you can usually find several per paragraph.

First off Fox is the number 1 news channel. The reason is Fox tells both sides unlike CNN, NY TIMES, MOVEON.ORG, NBC, Rosie, Bull Maher, or any George SOROS media outlet. Instead of these other newtworks or Left wing nuts, they put on an equal number of both sides to debate the issues. Most Liberal shows like CNN, NBC, Bill Maher, have 3 Left-wing nuts, Screaming there points against one Republican, so they gang up like school yard bullies. Fox NEWS again equal number of both Hannity and Colmes, The Factor, ETC. and with an equal number it shows the faults in these left-wing nuts arguments. See for yourself, the Mainstream media, covers what they want, case in point if Opie and Anthony had a Skit about Sexually assulating Hilary Clinton CNN, NBC, MSNBC, Ny Times, would be going crazy bnut since the comments were made about Laura Bush and Condi Rice who are not popular with these left wing media outlets nothing is said or done about it. Plus Fox Calls out people for making Left wing Nut statements about 9-11, Iraq, the rest just ignore it because they agree with the Left.
Check out the story of 2 John Edwards Bloggers who made anti-Jesus and Christian comments on the Edwards Blog. The mainstream media failed to report it, Fox News did and untill they reported the story Edwards said he wasn't gonna fire them but after the story broke on Fox and O'Reilly want after him he fired the Bloggers.
Check out a NY times Article on a female soldier who claimed to be sexually assulted in Iraq, Come to find out she was never in Iraq FOX called the Ny Times out and they never printed a retraction, the Female soldier admitted it and said and I quote she thought she was there.
