It hurt for me too, at first. I first tried Tampax Pearl, but those were too big, so I'd suggest starting with thinner tampons, they normally say thin on the box. I can't remember what mine were called...it was a few years ago. But, definitely find thinner ones, and I'd use plastic, not cardboard. They go in easier. And, I know it sounds weird, and kind of gross, but I found it helpful to use a mirror at first. Just the first few times, because you aren't used to sticking a...well, stick inside of you. Hope this helps!

get some KY Jelly and put a dab on the tip or try water.

You need to relax, that is the biggest thing.

Sit on the toilet with your legs spread far apart and your back angled back, so that your vagina is almost angled up. This opens you the best.

You might have to use your finger to find the hole and my GF suggests using the smallest size tampons (regular I guess....do they make light flow tampons?) with a plastic applicator. But find the hole with the tip of the tampon and push the applicator in without pushing the tampon in first. After you have the applicator in, push the tampon in.

Remember that the vagina is about 5 inches deep and it is possible to break your hymen with a tampon (which is why a lack of a hymen doesn't mean you've had sex before). If it hurts, you'll eventually adjust to it.

You need to use the smallest tampons possible, they make specific slim fits for teens, preferably with a plastic applicator. Put your leg up on the toilet and take a kind of wide stance. Make sure you are putting the applicator all the way inside your vagina so that your fingers are touching your skin and then push the applicator tube to insert the tampon. If it's uncomfortable take it out and try a new tampon.
Good Luck

It helps to just relax while you put it in sometime's if you tense up it will hurt also try sitting on the toilet and point it toward your back while your putting it in. If this doesn't help I would stick with pads for now and try tampon's later down the road. You could also try the junior sized tampon's that would help they are dramaticaly smaller and would help reduce the risk of toxic shock syndrome. Good Luck!

I have tried several times to use tampons and it has never worked. I have even used the small ones specifically meant for teens and I couldn't use them. I asked my ob/gyn about it and she told me some people were just very tight like that. My mum was the same way; she was never able to use tampons either. So, I don't think there is anything wrong with you.

No there is nothing wrong with you at all ive be using tampons for 2 years and each time I put one in it STILL hurts a little but just relax and make sure you well lubrated which makes it go in easier or try to use a smaller tapon Tampax Compact are great for beginners. Hope this helps

try to relax first
then use your index or middle finger to feel for the direction where your tampon should go
then insert the tampon
it will become easier to do after you get the hang of it
it would help if you used a plastic applicator tampon the first several times you start using tampons (glides in easier)
good luck

Its okay. Sometimes ,it can hurt. Use the lowest Possible absorbensy. Try when your period is moderate to heavy, it will make tampon glide in easily. Use a Mirror. Hold the tampon from where the inner tube meets the thicker one.point it towards vagina. Put in untill your fingers touch your skin. If its right way in, you will not feel it. Hope it will work
