Here in Massachusetts we are FORCED to wear helmets when riding our motorcycles. It SUCKS BIG TIME. Pro choice here.
And after your last question about seat belts I feel compelled to post this piece. For THOSE of you who ARE FORCING me to wear my helmet. STUFF IT, It is MY HEAD and I KNOW the dangers of NOT wearing one. And it isn't ANY of your business if I wear it or NOT.
When out riding almost every single time I am cut off by some jerk driving a car who is either on the phone while driving, or they are sitting in their car with the drivers seat leaned way back becaus ethey think they are some kind of gangsta, or at least a wannabe. SIT UP, HANG and PAY ATTENTION.
I AGREE all so much with your edit Mouse. I was NOT referencing you when I said "YOUR" Above.

I drove my motorcycle for 25 years until I couldn't drive again, and never once forgot to wear my helmet. I advocate a full face shield, too. Why would I want a 20 MPH wind blowing dust or bugs right in my eyes as I'm hurtling down a street.
I hit a seagull face on at 60 MPH. His beak stuck through my Bell face shield. If I hadn''t been giving a buddy a lift to get his bike, I wouldn't be here today. As it was, when I came to, I saw all the blood on my face shield, and thought it was mine. I freaked. Bud, the guy I was driving, said I pulled over and parked the bike. Got off, walked to the curb and fell down and out. Helmet saved my life, that day, and several times when I kissed the concrete at 45MPH or less. I think you get hurt worse at low speed than at high speed, greater than 45MPH. At least I have, cars have hit me too many times.
I'm all for not having to wear one. But not for your stupid rights. You already know someone is gonna hit your stupid butt with their car. And, you want the wind in your hair? Go for it Ace. Just name the insurance beneficiary as the local Cancer Research, OK
Only thing is, your kid will probably die the same way.

There are more head injuries in cars than on motorcycles! It's true.
