There should generally be an expiry date on the package, either on the bottle or the box you go it in. If not, check on the lower back of your bottle and it should have a little "jar"-looking symbol with a number inside. That number shows you how long you have before it expires, but that date is really just an approximate. Most symbols says 24 which is in months. If you can find an actual expiry date on the package, like as Months and years, I would go with that.

Cosmetics don't necessarily expire, but they are a breeding ground for bacteria.

A good rule of thumb is keep your products no longer than 6 month and wash your sponges and brushes weekly in warm, soapy water.

Mascara should be replaced every three months. Any creamy makeup, including lipstick, should be tossed out if it starts to smell different. I can't remember the rule for all cosmetics, but I think about a year is the max for most.

I used to keep my makeup for years, but then my mom said that I should replace it every year, especially the eye stuff like mascara. Also, if you use a brush for eye shadow, you should replace those too like every 6 months if they sit in the container for a while.

The stuff I use daily (mascara, foundation, eye liners etc.) I replace every 2-3 months because of the bacteria....

All liquid makeup’s have a shelf life of 2 yrs before coagulation sets in. meaning oils/waters separates from pigments.

After a year throw out your eyeshadow, you can get some crazy horrible and nasty eye infections. Just FYI.

i dont think they do but there are small bugs on your face that you can not see and you should change your makeup and makeup brushes yearly.
