and why did the rapid growth please the expansionists?

Immigration, and there was room for the people explore and settle.
Many saw it was a chance to establish a new life where they could get away from the oppression or poverty in their own countries.
As they settled the prospered and they were able to settle, have families ans so on.

Immigration from Europe, fueled by refugees from various crises there such as wars and economic collapse and the Irish potato famine. It pleased expansionists because it meant more customers and more workers which kept the cost of labor down by operation of supply and demand.

free land. To get people to move west the government after the Louisiana purchase began to give the land to settlers (I think about 40 acres) after a few years of farming. Additionally, there were so many natural resources that we just needed people and skilled labor earned 2 or 3 times what they would in Europe.

depends what things you are studing.... i would say that war or something that has a lot to do with immagrants and the reason why they pleased expansionists.... cuz the immigrants werent mexican... HA HA HA jk.......
