Using simple logic, If the left & the press are correct & Iraq is in a civil war, that has nothing to do with outside instigators, whom ever DOESN"T control the oil revenues will ignite the asset. Cash flow enables purchasing of weapons.

These burning oil fields also will do a number on the environment!

To answer your question on price. It will not spike - it will reach a new FLOOR & continue moving up. $5 up a gallion short term with rapid jumps for at least 2 more years up to $10.

For those people that are saying so much oil is being stolen right now, are you thinking it is not being used? The demand is just being understated by the amount stolen!

Granted as the 2 major population centers increase their standard of living the energy problem is going to worsen. It has been said that we have already consumed 1/2 the world's supply of fossil fuels. The other half will be consumed faster with the world having more toys & more people playing with them.

Imagion the confussion as the energy crisis collides with the baby-boomers' retirement bill. Social Security depends on a robust economy to have it's imaginary figuires realized. Remember Social Security can only invest in government debt! If Social Security assets were put in a LOCKBOX it would kill the 1st world's economy also!

it is YOUR fault right now for having brought it up. when it does happen, it will be bush's fault.

funny part, if you say the war wasn't about oil, the opposition will jump on you in a flash saying it was.

if, okay, you try to play off that angle and say, ok, even if it were..... they will jump on you in a flash because you had previously denied it was.

either way, they don't really answer the question as to iraq's (or, even our) fate - so drunk with ideology, they invariably take a detour on the road.

let them stumble around. you and i know what is at stake and all we can do is keep trying to get just one of them on a sober day to THINK about our future, iraq's and how the two are intertwined.

Good job - i know how it feels to get beat up here by insults.

i suppose, it is better than being beaten with actual facts, so we are really doing okay here.....

Unless the Chinese economy goes into recession gas prices will continue to rise. Iraq has nothing to do with it. Nice try, though.

It would go up. So forget about Iraq. Drill in ANWR, and get the price down while we conservatives work on the next fuel source.

Liberals want the environmental safety via over-taxing the economy. the real fix is not what they are interested in.

Who know but since the Iraq war the prices have gone up and up and up. Maybe if we pull out then it will go down. Because being and this war and staying in it sure didn't keep it down.

So at least you admit it is an oil war...thank you. What do you think the price would be if say...we didn't invade a country that held no threat against us? Maybe it would still be around $1.40 like it was when we went there... ok inflation, katrina..maybe we would be around $1.65 or so... ok I can live with that...

We are not cutting and running if we leave Iraq, Our armed forces have defeated the military of Iraq, we have captured Saddam, we have helped them to have elections and stayed 4 years, our job is done. what would have happened if the United states would not have stood up and been a country after kicking the British out, maybe we could have called some other country to help us become our own country huh, it would not have worked and now it is time for Iraq to stand on its own, God bless them I hope they do well. And you should watch real news instead of the Fox channel.

To the price of gas? How about to the lives of thousands of American men and women? That is the better question. Or the tens of thousands of Iraq people that have to live in our mess?
But since the question is an attempt at communication I will attempt to answer it. I don't know about where you live, but where I live the price of gas increases no matter what. No matter how many lies are told to the American people how well we are doing for not "cutting and running." No how long we are there. Oh yeah and what about that statement made by Connie Rice that said that in three months if there is no improvement we will be on our way out. That "bench mark" would have been met in April.
I regress. No matter how many soldiers and innocent children are killed. No matter if we leave tomorrow. No matter what the NEO-CONS promises the deep mind, and like minded, that posed this question. NO MATTER WHAT gas and the price of gas will increase. Exxon Mobile continues to set records of profit. Do you know that? Are you paying attention?
No matter if us staying in Iraq places a bigger burden on the working poor, our youth, not to mention furthers the division between rich and poor. Do we weep for the middle class? I do!
I would love to send my children, or self, through college. I would love to be able to travel and see our beautiful country. I would love to have America be ran by the people that could make a better attempt at Democracy,(it is an idea remember) then this inept two party, corrupt, deceitful system. I would like a system in which we as a nation can be proud of saying "I am a free American." Not "I am from America and I am sorry for..." Who would want our brand of democracy? I certainly don't. This is not where you tell me to move out of the country. That ploy is about as tired as "stay the course."
We are ignorant to the war. Any war. There are "wars and rumors of war." Rumors is all the main stream gives most. But who can blame us...or the U.S. people, when the media is dictated, or spoon fed to us because it goes against our white bread, over processed, mall shopping/sweat shop supporting, sensibilities. We have a responsibility when born into a democracy. At the very least it is to make sure that our govenment is governing with integrity and honesty. Not working on an agenda that is based on profit, but out of a sense of duty to SERVE. And serving, anything other than his best interest, has been proven to be President Bush's lesser character trait.
If we saw the war the way that we saw Vietnam every night, for one month, the people in small towns to large cities, would stop traffic because there would be so many "We The People" on the streets, coming together as a Nation, protesting, governing our government. That may help the high price of oil/gas. Not to mention reconnect us with our community.
Our ignorance will kill any hope for Democracy, the Constitution, the Declaration of Independence or this country being self sufficient. Do you wonder where all the jobs are? We can't build more refineries for our own oil because we can't make the steel or supplies that are needed. And the supplies we can buy are so expensive that the cost is to great.
Is anyone out there? Jim Morrison was right...WE ARE SHEEP, being lead to slaughter. BBBAAAHHHH
Hope springs eternal though. Maybe the cost of gas going through the roof will help all to rethink our life styles. Mass transportation that has to be efficient, economic, and ran on bio-fuels. That we can live in the suburbs and not be bothered with inner city crime, poverty, need, and then behave as if we are untouched by this IS unAmerican, lacks vision, compassion, insight and creativity. Where is the creativity of Thomas Jefferson, John Hanncock, Benjamin Franklin, Martin Luther King Jr. Robert F. Kennedy? Oh they all work for ENRON, Comcast, Black Water or Rupert Murdock. What about the terriorism of the lack of health care, unaffordable medication, housing, food for our elderly and youth. What about the terriorism of gang wars going on in our cities and our President on TV telling a middle aged woman how "uniquely American" she is because she holds down three jobs? Need I go on?
Wake up my dear, fellow, Americans. We have been lead to Armageddon, by a man who uses words like "crusades, I am the decider, God told me I will be President" and the show is just about to begin. Shock and Awe (shocking and awful) was nothing compared to this. So leave your brains, hearts and conscious at the door. There will be no critical thinking at this show. There will be no need for instinct or intiuition. You will need to find your own ride. And there certainly will be no dancing in the aisle. Remember general admission with room to dance. BBBBaaaaahhhhh
