Ok i have lived in two cities and i've done alot and experienced many things. Now i would like to try and lead a common simple life. Where people are real, and its not a rat race 24/7. Where my color nor my sexuality determines where i live eat or who talks to me. Kinda like Smallville.

You should go to the MidWest. I'm from Iowa but live in Omaha, Nebraska. Omaha is like a really big small town. There are different races and sexualities. You'll be sure to fit in whether you like clubs, small bars, bowling, football etc.

Iowa is pretty much the same. I'm from a town in southwest Iowa of 1500 people and it's very friendly, but you can still have your privacy. If you're looking for a place where you can relax and be yourself, this is where you should go. Farmland peacefulness etc. An hour away you can hit shopping.

A few things to consider....do you like your privacy? You do not have any in a small town. Do you have to work or are you retired? Not much work for a newbie to town. Do you like to socialize? We have some bars one here one in next town over. No movie house,no skating ring..... Do you like to go to the store after 6 pm? Need to drive to the next town over for this. Do you have a family to care what they think?
You do not mind people pointing out your color and/or your sexuality? Referring to you as "the black guy" or the "gay guy"?

There was a Californian who came to our part of the world. Thought it pretty and bought a place just like that. Staid one winter and was gone, up and sold his place.
There was a another guy who moved in, bought a place with more land then the first guy. Had a huge house for his friends. His friends never showed up and he was so lonely he sold EVERYTHING and walked off his place. He sold out to a local who bought house, furniture, everything in the house.

Why not visit somewhere first, then think about buying. This is not the city! Where good old boys stick up for each other no matter if one is a drunk and the other is the town cop. Where one family usually owns everything and employs everybody in the town.....Our town we live in is almost 800 people. My sisters town is almost as big but very remote.....

It is a lot slower here! We do not even have a stop light! lol Our one store is closed by dusk! and this is a convenient store not a grocery store lol! No fast food here. We do have a grade school, a church, some little business (real little) here and there.
