When people think of great dunkers, it's usually in the context of The Slam Dunk contest.

I want to know who do you think brought it best during the course of a game and why did you choose that person.

Good question; one thing to dunk on an empty court, quite another to do it when 5 guys are there to prevent it.

Of all times it'd be MJ. But of all time "in game" I have to go with Kobe.

I'm not a Kobe fan as such. But there is no argument - in my eyes - that he can alter the mood of a game, and break an opponent's will, by going for a slam when it seems almost impossible to do. Kobe would slam on a zone defense.

His dunks give momentum to his team, while taking it away from his opponents.

For the same reason - and close call, I had Amare on the top list, and Vince Carter. While these guys make your jaw drop to the floor when they go orbital, they do not (yet?) seem to deliver that "punch in the gut" feel Kobe would give you when he dunks on a team.

My list

5. Shaquille O'Neal -- Not flashy maybe, but his power counts for a lot. Remember he brought down the rim and the glass on more than one occasion.

4. Kobe Bryant -- Air time is freakish, explosion is reminiscent of another on this list, can create on the fly and does his best work in the game

3. Vince Carter -- Dude thundered it over a 7-footer in the Olympics! Carter has the moves, the hangtime, and the flash Bryant and Shaq and Dominique and others don't.

2. "Dr. J." Julius Erving -- Was the big-time dunker before it was as popular as it is now, meaning he was an innovator; he inspired guys like Wilkens and Jordan and Vinsanity and Nate Robinson. The Doctor could rock you to sleep or throw it down over you, and his layups were so beautiful you couldn't tell when his dunks would come until it was too late.

1. "His Airness" Michael Jordan -- Number 23 (and for a bit, 45) had speed and explosion like Vince, a lot of power for a guard (not like Shaq, but still a powerful guy) on-the-fly creativity like Kobe and he brought a crowd to its feet like the Doctor.

He could fake a man out while in the air dunking over him, and he could soar just as far from any area on the court, not just from straight up on the break, but in the half court along the baseline. MJ could jump through a thicket of players and power dunk the ball through like he was running the break. Unlike with some of the other players, Michael Jordan was the type of player that could make a fastbreak out of any play and did frequently. Don't forget the free throw rebound dunk.

Add the consistency he had throughout his career until his 40s when he settled for many more jumpers, and you have a phenomenonal career dunker.

Oh my gosh, I have been given so excited once I examine the reaction from skeleton skater dude! (won't be in a position to work out their person call; it in simple terms shows up as 'ba' and then a collection of squares.) i haven't met anybody else that does that, and my friends all think of i'm weird and wonderful! I in simple terms got here upon that dunking no longer did it for me -- it wasn't adequate milk. Pouring milk on them is suitable! yet i'm additionally the dork that does the 'twisting it to get an answer to a query' project... "Is he ever going to question me on a date?" for example, and if the creme comes off on the left a million/2, that's a definite, dazzling a million/2 that's a no, split up on the two ability it became right into a dumb question & i'm no longer meant to understand the respond. :D i do no longer take it heavily, do no longer difficulty. lol besides, I do this, then positioned them in a bowl with milk. Yum! Shoot, now i prefer some Oreos!!!

Um, Vince Carter.............hell no.
Dr. J..............close, but no cigar.
Jordan.........phenominal, but no to him as well.

If you are old enought to remember who "the HUMAN HIGHLIGHT REEL" is, then you know about dunks in game.

DOMINIQUE WILKINS was the greatest in game dunker ever!
Then GEORGE GERVIN, "the ICEMAN" , yea he was a cold brotha! But KEVIN JOHNSON(6'3) dunking on KAREEM(7'1) was the best ever by anyone. Even better than MJ on Ewing!

Shawn Kemp, "The Reign Man", from 1989 to 1996. At one point in his career he could grab a quarter of the top of the back-board.

I would go with Shaq in his Orlando years. I used to love watching him rip those rims and backboards right off. The only problem was that it would take them a couple of hours to fix it sometimes.
