some pro-lifers argue that the fetus is a potential life and thus aborting it is harming it, cant we use that same argument for men masturbating? like when then guys masturbate and they ejaculate isnt that killing potential lives?? i know this sounds ridiculous but think about it!!! honestly. so if they want to abolish all abortion laws, shouldnt we have anti-masturbation laws for men also?

Hello!!! I saw that someone remarked about a menstrual cycle and comparing it to the masturbation. Masturbation is a choice, a menstrual cycle for most is not. A fetus IS a potential life because until there is a birth, it can DIE in the womb. Women have had miscarriages in their 8th month.
I agree with you. Since there is ALL this potential life, get those anti-masturbation laws on the books. It would be hard to enforce but you would hear the due and cry from the male populace talking about interfering in their private life and what they do with their bodies is no one's business.
Those anti-choice people who don't think about the laws of "unintended consequences".
Prime example
Woman in Miami, FL in the last 12 months ,had a fetus DIE at 5 months gestation. She had been in jail for a probation violation. Due to the partial birth abortion ban, the courts and doctors REFUSED to remove the DEAD FETUS from her womb. She was basically told she would have to carry it until it was expelled from her body.
Use the argument, it does sound strange but go for it. Let's ban "Spanking the Monkey"- prevent all those potential loss of lives. For all those anti choice women, line up and make as many babies as possible, if not, go line up and adopt all those children currently in the system and all those that will be there in the future. There should not be a child in foster care waiting to be adopted .

unfortunately, you're comparing apples and oranges...when men ejaculate only half of a potential life is expelled...abortion is the termination of an already fertilized egg, which is a fully prepared life....as entertaining as your question is, it is nonetheless invalid...and yet, oddly enough, the same bible which outlaws the killing of an unborn child also prohibits men from casting their seed upon the sand, as it were, so perhaps there is a correlation after all, although the men who wrote the bible had no concept of biology at all...personally i would like to live in a world where abortion is perfectly legal but where most people know enough to use other (preventative) options..

I agree. I think anti-choice men and women should have to account for every potential life in the form of sperm which they waste.

I especially think anti-choice women should have to gestate every one of those potential lives from every ejaculation.

And anti-choice men should not be allowed to have sex *except* for pro-creation. On pain of public castration.

Hehehe. Nah, I don't really believe any of that ~ Imagine forcing parents like that onto some poor potential kid ... YUK!

Good question, though!

A fetus isn't a "potential life" it IS a life and abortion is killing that life. It takes an egg and a sperm for life to begin. Women loose eggs on a monthly basis and it's a natural process. Think about what you're asking...it IS ridiculous.

based on your comparison, a woman's menstrual period should be considered a spontaneous abortion.
