Well if you don't have the money - then see what SL features you can dummy down. Try dialing back the resolution of the graphics (from the game preferences). If that isn't acceptable, maybe knock your display down one level.

I've got a 1.5Ghz, 512mb ram, GeForce 6200 with 512mb running WinXP-Pro and I really can't complain. As far as I can ascertain my wireless throughput (due to distance and obstacles) is the biggest bottle neck. I just keep it at 1024x768 since I'm not running a faster system. Maybe by the time I'm more experienced with SL, I'll be ready to upgrade. (Only started in May.)

I recently accepted the update they pushed down this week. Seems smoother than before.

With online "games" such as second life, you will see more benefit by upgrading your system RAM to the maximum you can afford and your system can handle. Windows XP likes 1GB but 2GB is a wee bit better. Vista, well.....2GB is the least you should have.

Also, if your graphics core is built onto your motherboard it can rob cycles away from your CPU and memory from your system RAM. Having a dedicated graphics card can relieve system stress.

You could try to overclock your processor to 2.0ghz. It shouldn't be too difficult. What type of processor do you have? If it is an AMD you should already have enough power. As a 1.8ghz AMD Athlon64 is equivelant to a 2.8/3.0ghz Intel Pentium 4. And a 1.8ghz Sempron/Sempron64 is equivelant to roughly a 3.0ghz Celeron.

Only way to compensate it, more memory and a better graphics card, with cards so expensive, cheaper in long run to upgrade your computer system

ideally you will have a meat themometer to examine the interior temp of the sausage. different than that i think of sluggish cooking meat, i like to steam my brats in beer, facilitates tenderize the beef and helps them to take up the spices. If those are little breakfast links or patties, the purpose is to get them crisp and brown on the outdoors. decrease all sausages to verify there is no crimson interior.
