Columbia is considered the best, but more important than what school you go to is the quality of your clips.
I've been a reporter, editor and professional writer for more years than I care to remember, and I've always found that the best writers are the ones who DIDN'T go through J-school.
Instead, they are the ones who held down a variety of jobs and careers, and in doing so met a wider variety of people than people who went straight from high-school to college and/or post-grad. Frankly, J-school grads all tend to think and write the same, and making journalism into a "profession" instead of a craft is one of the root causes for the problems afflicting media today.

Northwestern's Medhil School of Journalism is top rate. As is the university of Missouri's journalism school, Columbia University. In Canada Ryerson Polytechincal Institute is a great journalism degree program as are the University of Western Ontario, (but it's a post graduate degree )and Carlton University in Ottawa.
I'd suggest you talk to your professors at the community college

That's funny you should ask. I had the same question in my mind about a month ago. My g/f went to the University of Missouri for journalism. She said it is tops in the country and, being from the University of Kansas, I didn't (want to) believe her. I scoured the internet looking for rankings. Apparently the powers that be are (understandably) reluctant to put out a "best of" list. I don't really hold much weight in those lists myself, so I think a "top grouping" list works best. Here's a list of some of the best J-schools (undergraduate & graduate) in the country:
Ball State
Cal
Columbia
Florida
Indiana Bloomington
Kansas (yay!)
Maryland
Michigan State
Minnesota
Missouri (drats!)
UNC Chapel Hill
Northwestern
Wisconsin
Check out the links for more information.
Good luck!

Medill at Northwestern University in Illinois :)
it's nice because you get to (i actually think you have to, but I'm not sure) spend a semester in Washington D.C. and spend a lot of time with Chicago print publications and broadcast stations.
