Well according to the news this evening he is staying behind = which i agree with. He will be a target and put his men closest to him in high risk. I think the decision that was made was the right one. But good on him for trying and good on him for being a good laugh, down to earth normal kid!!

What should have happened was that it should have been stated at the start that he would not be deployed in a war zone (as has been done with Prince William) then he could have gone there, as he wished, without all the media attention that this has had over several weeks and in relative anonimity.
People need to understand that he has been withdrawn because specific threats had been made against him as an individual but this has not set a precident. This happened frequently with Northern Ireland. Many Northern Irish Catholics and Protestants joined the British Army and it would have been suicidal for them to have then been sent there on duty so when their regiments went they were sent elsewhere for the duration of that tour because it was deemed that they as individuals had a much greater risk of being killed than the average soldier. It is exactly the same with Harry now, it's just that he also happens to be a Prince and therefore it is being widely publicised and people are wrongly saying that he's getting special treatment because he's a Prince.
People also shouldn't forget that this is not a 'typical' war. If, for example, the Falklands were invaded by Argentina next week there would be no question that Harry should not go. If he was captured by the Argentinian military then they would hold him as a POW in the same way as any other captured British Officer would be held and he would be handed back at the end of hostilites. We all know that would not be the case if he were to be captured in Iraq and the consequences to him do not need spelling out.

He should go. Why should he stay behind? All those people out there are someones child and are just as important as he is. But then saying that none of them should be out there. What are they fighting for anyway? If all of these so called peace loving muslims cannot live in harmony then leave them to it. Why are all these other countries sending people to try and sort out a mess that will never get resolved. Leave the locals to it and just get the feck out!!!

since when does the MoD publish whos on active duty where? our peter has done two tours, and we didnt know exactly where he was at any time... i think harry should make the decision... hes just another grunt, another soldier, he should follow in a great tradition of going to war with his men, this is what our princes and and other noblemen have always done. not to do so would be remiss of him, and may have lasting repercussions.

He shouldn't go in my opinion. He is a huge target himself (more so than the "average" soldier") and additionally, troops near to him are at greater risk too. The MoD have got it right in making him stay behind. Too much risk for him and others if he's present. Its a shame for him but hey, common sense prevailed on this one.

It would set a great example for the country if he did. On the other hand I wouldn't send him into this type of war. Terrorists really would be gunning for him. He's would be more of a danger than an asset.

I believe in equality no matter who you are. You shouldn't get different circumstances due to what family you belong in. I think he should have gone to represent his people. In truth I am against war all together, but if they send in men who really have no opinion but to join the millitary they should send in the rich and powerful also. Not to mention...HE WANTED TO GO.

He already set a great example by being willing to go. However for him to actually go would put everyone around him in danger, plus would be a major coup for the enemy if he were captured, injured or killed.
