I don't think the liberals care who takes over, or what happens to the people there either. Now the Democratic leadership is a little different. They don't want to be responsible for de-funding our troops as that would cost them votes and would be a mark against their party forever.

You are being disingenuous. "Cut and run" is another one of those partisan buzz phrases that means nothing. But you're not alone on that. Partisans of other stripes do the same. As for today's Senate vote, nearly a third more Dems voted "to do what the libs wanted" than voted against it. You obviously hold valid opinions. Just don't use the truth as something to be stretched to sell those opinions.

Which of those two unrelated questions do you want me to answer?

1. Whomever the Iraqis want - we gave them freedom, remember? It's their choice, not ours.

2. The bill was a test; it was never expected to pass. It was a vote to determine where each member of the Senate stood on the issue, to see where the boundaries are. This has been discussed for days now; where have you been?

Well, let's see...

Iran has risen to the fray thanks to Bush's incompetence--by removing the only buffer keeping that country's influence in CHECK--and now is pulling Malaki's strings, and the Saudis are supplying money and weapons to the Sunni-led insurgency...?

I'd say--given 5 years--we'll see another strong man (a.k.a.: DICTATOR) installed in Iraq's perilously weakened government.

And we'll be buddies with them before too long--just like we were buds with Saddam in the 80s.

upon asking my friend, 'a true liberal,' this last night, i was told:

that the country will split into thirds - one country for the shi'ites, one for sunnis, one for kurds.

i thought that was a cute, overly simplistic, idealistic answer from someone who fervently claims to be up on events. (i can even laugh about it now.)

that didn't vote the way the libs wanted because squawk or, not, they knew it would be unconscionable to do so. nice to know even they recognize hot air.

good question - thank you.

The bleeding heart liberals like Hanoi Jane Fonda think pulling out will stop the violence and save American lives. It may save soldiers lives, but just like what happened when the last American troop left Viet Nam soil there will be a blood bath in Iraq. The Shiite Muslims will try to genocide all of the Sunni Muslims and take over Iraq. Also they hate President Bush so much they don't care what happens to the U.S.

this is just a can of worms that has been opened..no matter who gets into office we are going to get another 911 and the next one will be worse...and the enemy is getting smarter and more resourseful as our media gives them all the tools they need.
this war was lost in the media a long time ago..also like the Viet Nam war..we don't learn from our mistakes..
we are damned if we do and damned if we don't..

It does not matter to these people. They do not rationally think about this. All they care about in their minds is quiting the war.
