No Problem, Here are the physical connections you want.

-Cable from the wall to the modem.
-Ethernet Cable from the Modems Ethernet Port to the Routers WAN (Internet) Port
-Ethernet Cable from the Routers Ethernet Port #1 to Sons Computer ethernet port
-Install or turn on a wireless adapter on daughters laptop

Now you will have to configure the router. I dont know which router you are using so I will give you generic instructions.

Using your sons computer open a browser window and in the address bar type 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1 These are the usual default IP addresses of most routers. A window will open asking for a username and password. If you have the quick install guide for your router use it to find out the default username and password. Usually it is admin for the username and leave the password field blank.

Now when you are in find the internet (ISP) part of the configuration. Im guessing you have DSL so set it up for a PPPOE connection and type in your ISP username and password in the given fields. These are the username and password used to connect to your internet service provider.

Then find the wireless section of the configuration and select a SSID, this will be a name for your wireless connection to identify your routers from others in your area. Dont bother with the wireless security options yet, wait to get the connection on your daughters computer working first.

Now save the settings and reboot the modem and router. You should have a internet connection on your sons computer now.

Goto your daughters computer and connect to the wireless signal named what you named the routers SSID.

If everything is setup correctly you should have internet on your daughters computer now.

The wireless router should have 1 modem port (WAN) and normally 4 wired LAN ports. Connect the WAN port to the modem, then connect his to the router direct. Then configure the router as per the manual using the web browser method. Then use your wireless utility for each of the wireless cards on the other machines to find the network, set the encryption to match and connect.

If you already have a wireless router, what you need to do is make sure each of the computers has a wireless internet card. Connect the modem directly to the router, and then via the wireless connection, connect each computer to the router. If you don't have a wireless card installed, you can buy one and install it. The price vaires depending on what you get. Unless you are comfortable opening the case of your computer to install a new card, I would recommend a usb connection. (The usb network connection from Linksys would run you about $80. per computer).

Connect the modem to the router. Connect the router to your son's PC. You'll need a wireless card for your daughter's PC so she can connect to the modem wirelessly, but those aren't very expensive.

you may probable deploy an adapter you will could desire to purchase a NIC (community Interface Card). you will deploy it into your laptop. in the previous you purchase the NIC, look interior your laptop and verify what style of connection is accessible. optimistically you're transforming into a PCI slot that isn't getting used. A PCI slot is on the motherboard and is approximately 3 inches long and is white. look to verify if there is one that isn't being utilized by potential of different "enjoying cards". as quickly as you purchase and deploy the NIC . . . once you swap your laptop on for the 1st time it may desire to "straight away come across" and deploy the NIC for you. If no longer, the NIC could incorporate a CD that has the "driving force" on it (the appliance that your laptop desires so as that it may "communicate" to the NIC). you will could desire to install the driving force. solid success. P.S. NICs are not high priced. I even have discovered that NetGear is a competent style. Or LinkSys. they generally fee below $50. (now and returned even below $20) .
