In the Eastern Mediterraean, Egypt influenced partially by conquest. However, Egyptians were also avid merchants, influnencing many other civilizations.

They were protected from attack and therefore could dedicate themselves to offensive capabilities. However, having said that, one could argue how large their sphere of influence really was. It was nothing in comparison to the Greeks, Romans, Persians or Mongols. In fact they have a very small sphere.
