i just bought a resistor chip on ebay for $15 and i need to get it installed, its easy installison but i know nothing on cars, so how much you think a mechanic should charge me to put it in, so far i almost got ripped off this one mechanic tried charging me a 100 bucks, i found that very stupid because i only paid 15 bucks for the chip.

If it's an easy installation, why can't you do it yourself?
If you know nothing about cars, how do you know $100 is a rip-off?
Why does the price you paid for the chip have anything to do with how much it should cost to install it?

I would charge you $200 just to cover my a$$. You have no idea what you purchased, let alone how to install it, so you are at the mercy of whoever you chose to do the job. There is no telling what will happen when that chip goes in or what it will screw up. What you paid for the chip has nothing to do with the charge for installing it.

Any reputable mechanic would not install such a device.

You're trying to fool the computer to think the environment isn't what it really is..probably that the intake air temperature is colder than it is.

The idea is that colder air is more dense, so the resistor will fool the computer that your engine needs more fuel

Since the computer is tuned for the optimal burn, you're throwing away gas

Not worth losing gas mileage and the risk that you permanently damage something
