Good for you. Sorry that happened.
You know it really was time for you to do something constuctive. It is just to bad it took a tradgedy. to get you moving.
How is that for a lecture ?

If there is sewage and TP present, your sanitary (city) sewer backed up. First notify the city's public works department. Your homeowners insurance will cover clean-up. Hire a good cleaning contractor to do the work. I usually ask the insurance agent for three references. Check with recent customers before hiring the cleaners. Now to stop this from happening again, hire a good plumber to install a back-flow preventer in you floor drains. Your insurance may be willing to help with this cost as well.

Nope I'm on a hill with a stone foundation and a dirt floor, if it does run in, it runs through and out the other side. Sorry you had to be ill and clean flooding.

Not my basement... but the pipes under my kitchen sink broke and I had a small flood from that..

We had to do that the other day. Not because of rain though. It was because the water main line into our house was leaking. Thankfully, our wonderful neighbors let us borrow their ShopVac.
I feel for ya, Hon...ain't homeownership grand??

We cleaned up a massive pine that cracked off in our yard.... the bulk of it was in the neighbours yard
