I'm not doing my taxes, I'm doing a project. In which document can I find the rate of 5.5% for the federal income tax? Its not in the constitution =(. I checked irs website and it doesnt show, but instead only tells me how to do my taxes. Help please

I'm pretty sure it's not 5.5%, but it is in an IRS publication. I've linked it for you. The tax rate varies based on what you make, how much you deduct and which credits you qualify for.

It's in there...somewhere. Good luck finding it.

Title 26 of the US Federal code, aka the Internal Revenue Code is the Federal law that regulate income tax. If you want the actual bills passed by congress, that created and amended the code over the years, search Yahoo Answers for the thousands of other questions that have already been asked on this issue. Someone gave the links less than 6 weeks ago.
