So as to remind us of that.

Plato believed that the world copies perfection in the world of the forms, where everything is perfect. Basically, his idea was that everything here is a less than perfect copy of some perfect thing there. So to Plato, perfection existed, just not here in this world.

I think it would be wrong to say nothing is perfect. I do agree that there are many things in this world that are not perfect and will never be. But if you take the processes of life like :photosynthesis, the stages of birth, the design of a human those I find are perfect, other instances when things go exactly according to plan (although very rare) they are then perfect.
But to answer your question, we have ideas of perfection, things that we perceive to be perfect and desire to be perfect. It's something the people strive for, even if unattainable, it needs a name.

Every thing God made is perfect. Look at the environment around you. Look at the Sun. Think about the life sustaining oxygen in air you breath. Look at the life sustaining Water provided by God to you. Look at the Plants who inhale the carbon dioxide which you release and give off oxygen for you. Look at the food grains, fruit plants and what not, there is no end to it. It is all perfected by God for You.
Now it is time that you behave perfectly, if not, strive to become perfect and do not misuse or abuse the nature provided by God. Our present worries are all because of it.
You shall be graded for your virtues according to the perfection you tried to achieve.
So, let the word perfect be there for our sustainance.

I think you will find that the common human conception of "perfect" is actually imperfect. If all flaws are erased there is a drab and devoid-of-character consequence. Perfect symetry is not found in nature, but when we attempt to make something perfect, it 'has' to be symetrical.
There is actually the existence of perfection in nature that is achieved and more importantly only witnessed at certain brief intervals if you will be aware.

In this dimension, "Perfection is transient." It does exist but not for long. Case in point, the perfect jumper to win Michael Jordan and the Bulls a national championship; Tiger Woods shot on the 16th at Augusta, that led to his ultimate win at the Masters in 2005. If you remember, he then bogeyed the next two holes and had to go to a playoff. But everytime you turn on the TV for Master's lore, that shot is played. Nike played it over and over for advertising. Remember, "Transient perfection should be admired."

Because in order for their to be an idea of inperfection, must not there also be an idea of perfection to weight it against?
PS It really depends on your idea of perfection...be it God or being one with nature....
And at Deceptive innocence's ideas...
If life has no opposite, then what is a rock??? As a rock has never been alive?
At Bronze Eleven's - maybe, but a unicorn is based on things that do exist; such as a horse, and a horn. Mysticism is based on the movements of things, it's like haveing a photo of a quarterback throwing a ball, and then photoshopping it so taht it looks like the ball is in mid-air. It's removing the existant doer of an existant action.
PS I forgot!!!! Rene Descartes used this concept as a proof of the existence of God!!! He said that in order for inperfection to grasp the concept of perfection, a perfect entity must place that concept into the mind of the inperfect entity.

The word perfect exists because humans know we have problems, dont tell me you dont EVERYBODY got some problems. perfection is just a name we came up with for something we cant attain. even if a plan goes 'perfect' there would still be some degree of erroer i think.just my 2 cents.

"Perfect" exists so that the human race as something to aspire to. There is a reason why we all walk this earth, and we need to aspire to something to keep us going, like a car needs gas to keep going. If we had nothing to dream about (whether we seek perfection in ourselves or in others) we might just all drop dead! Whether we like it or not, the world NEEDS something to wish for.

If nothing in the world is perfect then the world is perfectly imperfect. WE have that word because people like to use it loosely and over exaggerate and dramatize
