Am I the only one who thinks Avril Lavinge is a sellout? For her first two albums, her music was fine. Then she lost popularity. Now all of her songs cuss a lot, even in the name of her album. I think that she thought, "In order to be cool and popular, I have to swear a lot and act all punkish." Does anyone else agree?

Why is it a wonder that she didn't know who the sex pistols were? I mean, that is long before she was even born...

Anyway, she always did pop music, and now her life is in a different place then where it was when she recorded her first two albums, so of course her music is different, but how is doing what she wants to do, despite how different it is from what she first did selling out?

Trying to say Avril Lavigne sold out is pretty silly. It's like trying to argue that at some point Madonna sold out.

Anyway, I think her new stuff has more of a punk rock influence then her old stuff, but I still wouldn't call it punk rock. More like Blink-182, pop/punk.

Oh! I love this question! Ive been thinking about it for a week now! Ive always hated her music. She tried to be "punk" but I don't think people realize what punk is anymore. Any band that has claimed themselves "punk" within the past 10 years is only fooling themselves and their audience because it is NOT punk! When I think punk I think Misits, Minor Threat, Dead Kennedys, The Clash, Black Flag, and older stuff like that. THEY knew what they were doing. But yeah. Now Avyril is only becoming what she has said she hated for so long now. I guess fame will get to anyone enough to change their views and opinions. But my question to YOU now is why are you even listening to her! Lol!

Agree! I dug her when she first came out since she was indeed the "anti-pop star, girly, Britney". Now it seems that she has softened a bit and is trying way too hard to be over the top and outrageous while honing pop rock like songs.

That pop song with the silly dance/cheerleading routine on the video to me makes her seem like a sell-out.

I love Avril's old songs, but now I don't like most of her recent ones. They just sound so different.
