I am a Muslim woman. Dear thank you for posting a sincere question about Islam and the headscarf is the hijab. The niqab is the face veil. I only wear hijab right now but plan on buying the Abaya which is the long black robe that covers you from neck to toe that Muslim women and girls are supposed to wear when I open my own checking account. I like wearing the hijab however I must admit I am nervous going outside because of how people stare at me or say things behind my back and it annoys me and gets on my nerves. I plan on fully covering Insha ALLAH soon not only to get more good credit but because I wish to be like the Prophet's(PBUH*) wives and follow the Qur'an and Hadiths that say a believing Muslim woman or girl must cover every part of her body(girls must wear niqab when they start their period) because that is what ALLAH has decreed for all women of the Universal religion which is Islam and also because I love and fear ALLAH and wish to go to Jinnah when I die.

I am Muslim and I don't cover yet but I have many friends that do. In Islam covering the face is not required. That is a personal choice or in some cases, a cultural practice. The friends I have that cover their face are happy to do it. They feel the same way about covering their heads... they love and respect their religion and do not feel it is oppressive in any way. I am new to Islam but I know that one day I will cover also.

Hey there, I'm Muslim but I'm not a girl though lol but I can answer your question.

From what I've noticed, a lot of girls are content with wearing the head scarf, because most of the girls that wear it do so because they want to. However, some families force the wearing of the scarf on their daughters, which isn't right because the daughters have to make the decision for themselves.

The veil that covers their face is not part of the religion. It was something made up by fundamentalists in Saudi Arabia to further cover up women and hide them from public, it's absolutely wrong.

i am a muslim girl. i do not wear a veil, but if i ever reached a point where i become devoted to the religion and felt that i had reached the right time, i would wear a scarf. we are NOT forced to wear them, and the veil over the face is NOT necessary and no where in the koran does it say that it is necessary. the head scarf is simply the next step in becoming more religeous, kind of like a first communion, or being an altar boy or girl, it is just the next step, and once again i repeat for those who do not understand
the head scarf is never forced upon you and you dont ever have to wear one. those who become devoted may CHOOSE to.

From what I know. .which is a lot.. is that covering your face is not mandatory and if you do then it's your choice. Unless you live in Saudi then they were probably forced to wear it, but many countries don't enforce it which is a good thing. The head covering is to conceal a woman's beauty from wandering eyes of men. It's also a personal choice and a lady is not ashamed of it. It singles her out as a Muslim, and someone who has high self-respect.

I know my answer isn't very clear but I thought I would reply since you asked in such a respectful manner. Thank you and if your curious about anything else feel free to message me ^____^
